Agree 100%, Eshan was the top assistant at UAB in 15',when they won the Conference ( USA )tournament and went on to beat #5, Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA. tournamt

What did he bring UAB exactly? From what I see on sports-reference, UAB was a 20-win team (along with multiple NCCA tourney bids) for majority of 20 seasons before he took the head coach role. I don't have context on UAB, but on records alone, it looks like he more inherited/maintained a solid mid-major program based off record data and NCAA. And then it seemed like UAB made it back to tourney after he was fired. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/alabama-birmingham/men/2020.html
Again, hope I'm wrong here. But hire seems odd and kinda like a discount/value play - or a "slightly more comforting" Yak version of hire (as he at least has some Head Coach experience)

What's funny is a lot of you guys were excited about Robert Jones. Norfolk state is a nobody program in a nobody conference and I heard the guy is shady. No thanks!! Robert Jones has made 2 NCAA tournaments. Ehsan has 0

If true, I hope it works, but I'm underwhelmed.

It’s not your intention, but you’re making a good argument for Robert Jones by saying he went to 2 NCAA Tournaments at a “nobody school”. Success at “nobody schools” is often the best feather a candidate can have in his cap.

In addition to recent NCAA tournament bids, Norfolk State beat Illinois State and VCU this season at their arenas. You could argue building a roster and gameplans to beat MVC and A10 schools as a "nobody" school/conference with lesser resources actually makes Jones' more impressive.
No point in defending him if he isn't our guy - but just don't think it's fair to discount someone too hard based on the school/conference brand. To many, UIC is prob considered a nobody school unfortunately.
Again, I don't know much of anything of Ehsan - and he very well could be the right guy for us. But there are def holes that can be poked! I guess what gives me some comfort is when Porter Moser was hired at Loyola, he didn't have the best record/resume with his previous head coaching stints at ISU and Little Rock. So let's hope for a story like that if Ehsan is our guy!

Welcome to the blog not sure I've seen you on. The whole conference is a bunch of nobody teams. Is beating nobody when you are a nobody make you somebody? Uic is basically a nobody too,

Uic Flame good points on Moser, Beating VCU is great but they weren't anything special this year either was Illinois state.

We all talked about how important this hire was for the program. I don’t know this guy and I can’t feel like I got a comment on it, but it’s quite underwhelmed. I was hoping that the higher would be a proven moment. Unfortunately, it’s not. Hopefully this proves is wrong in a few years but I’m concerned.
