Jimmy Collins did flip off the UWM crowd and it wasn't the students...it was the adult section. As soon as he refused to shake hands, the crowd booed him and he looked up and flipped us off. As the crowd continued to boo him he waved his arms up and down for more. I could not believe what I saw. What a classless coach! He is supposed to ignore the crowd and should be reprimanded in some way. Jimmy Collins will never move into a higher level coaching job and he just proved why. He has no class and is an embarassment to your school.

Should be reprimanded? lol, grow up, we're not in sunday school..... it's tools like this rubber, that randy moss got fined for "fake" mooning the fans... who cares... if he attacked someone then sure, but who cares about a hand signal...

Maybe Jimmy should grow up and act like a man and get over it and shake a coaches hand after a game.

Obviously you weren't at the game or weren't sitting in the stands behind the benches. Jimmy did flip us off but I'm sure he had his back to the TV cameras. He did it discreetly, but he did do it. I have been at every UWM/UIC game in the past 4 years and Bruce Pearl has never refused to shake a hand.

No you did, and will continue to. By the way, your coach is a jerk.

Big D,
Jimmy did flip off the fans behind the scorer's table soon after people started booing, not as he was leaving the court.

I was standing right there, and this is just plain not true.
Nice story, really cute, but not true.
Listen to what Jimmy said in the post-game conference. He had a young family at the time, and Bruce Pearl nearly cost him his career. Bruce Pearl was a spiteful little prick who just wanted to get to the top, and couldn't handle Illinois being better than Iowa. I honestly don't care, but to expect Jimmy to want to shake that man's hand is spineless. I wish this all wasn't around, because its annoying, but it would be so ridiculous for the two to shake hands.
I don't see why anyone thinks its so valient of Pearl to put out his hand. He wasn't the one who was under investigation, or about to be fired. He wasn't the one who dealt with all this. It seems like it was pretty darn easy for him to deal with it all, as he had nothing to deal with.
Ask most Iowa fans what they think of Pearl...they'll tell you he's a scumbag.

Can we give this a rest? I haven't edited any posts that aren't mine. Not one. Not once. Never. It just plain hasn't happened.
I'm telling you I had seats right there and was watching the whole thing. Jimmy looked up at the crowd, and kept shaking hands. He never flipped anyone off.

Jason, I am not doubting that you were sitting in the UIC corner. When Jimmy was down there about to leave the court, he DIDN'T flip off the fans. All he did there was raise his arms up and down. Did you see him when he was going through the handshake line? After he passed Pearl, the crowd started to boo ... and he DID throw up his middle finger ... when he was in the handshake line. Personally, I couldn't care less because that's what I expect from him. Collins and Pearl should just come to an agreement that the winning coach goes through the handshake line, and the losing coach goes to the locker room. Then we don't have to put up with any of this from either side anymore.

Again, ESPN followed Collins through the handhake line and they did not cut away....I did not see a flip-off. Still, you'd think that this would get some press somewhere if it happened. Certainly, at least one person from the press must've seen it if tons of fans are claiming to have seen it. I mean, that would be a pretty ballsy thing to do with ESPN cameras on you. I still don't buy it.

I still don't buy it. Buy it or not. My seats are right in front of where it happened. ESPN cameras didn't follow him the entire way. Press is located on the other side of the court, so virtually impossible for them to see ... especially facing the other way. Why do you think the boos grew louder at a certain point before the handshake line was done?

Relax, the moderators don't like the words "cameras" and "handshake", so you're most likely going to be editted.

I was standing right behind the scorer's table after the game. Jimmy flipped off the crowd. I then went home to see if it was "caught" on ESPN. They showed Jimmy walk past Bruce, then cut away. When they came back, you could see him bringing his left hand down. This was IMMEDIATELY after he flipped off the crowd.
If you UIC "fans" want to defend a classless coach, go ahead. Won't change my opinion of UIC or Jimmy. Flat out, the man has no class and acts like a child. His antics in the corner were ridiculous and made him look like a complete fool. He seriously needs to grow up.
I'm looking forward to the HL tourney in Milwaukee, and really hope UIC makes it there. I'm going to sit right behind UIC's bench in a quarter or semi and just ride Jimmy to no end. Unlike him though, I'll keep it clean.
