With the trading away of Tyson Chandler and with the NBA instituting the age restriction on entering the League, hopefully the NBA will become a better, fundamentally sound and respectfully mature league. I hope the high schoolers out there will take note and realize that just because you may be 7 feet (a la Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler) doesn't guarantee a long life in the league. Granted, it appears as though that kind of height will get you millions, but it's more than that.
Now high school players have to either go to college for a year or to the NBDL or some other league or just sit out until that year is past. In that year of college, NBDL or whatever, they can learn some fundamentals about basketball. College no doubt would have done Curry and Chandler both well as I don't think they will be around when their respective contracts are up.
I know the Bulls picked up a former first round draft pick out of high school in J.R. Smith. Hopefully after his sophomore slump, realizing that he wasn't all that and being with Scott Skiles he can become the player he envisions himself as being- provided he's still with the Bulls before the season starts.
Kudos to the NBA- I love this game (but not as much as college!)
