Has anyone been keeping up on how he's doing? I managed to catch the Yankees/Tigers game last night on ESPN, and it was my first time actually seeing him play. He was 2-3 with a single, a double, and two walks. He was on base 4 of 5 times and scored 2 runs in their win. I was impressed with his eye. He doesn't swing at anything out of the zone. He does strike out a lot but he has raised his average to .284 and his OBP is .380. If he can work on those strikeouts, he's going to be a heck of a player. By the way, he apparently hosted the entire UIC team during a Tigers/Twins game a couple weeks ago. He took pictures with the team and ended up having a great night... uicflames.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/053006aad.html

He's having a pretty damn good season so far. I caught two of his at bats in the past two games (two were on ESPN) and one I saw him hit a single on a tough tough pitch and the other was a walk. So a very solid season going so far. And to see one of our more well known alumni giving somethin to the school is good too. Remember he also donated I believe $25,000 to a new baseball facility at UIC. So congrats Curtis and make UIC proud.

I am always cheering for Curtis Granderson to do well. These next 3 games, hope he does a little bit better ;D
But really, a great story. I remember last year when he hit a game winning HR against the Sox and on the story there was no mention of UIC except for one station or so. And just now on the news they interviewed him and refer to him as "Former UIC star Curtis Granderson". Always good to get the name out.

Detroit blows it in the 8th but CG had another solid game...leadoff walk, single, double, stole 3rd base. He also had two strikeouts but they were during 7 and 8-pitch at bats...
