Well, that was defintiely ugly but was a great and fun game to watch....very physical.
I expected that this would've been over sooner and I'm surprised we came back from that huge deficit. However, UIC cannot expect to make more than one big comeback in these games....especically against UMW (as ESPN said....those morons)....
A couple of things to note....
1) I have never seen us look more hideous with a press in my life. Have we ever done that bad with it? Honestly, we must've wasted about 2-3 minutes of total game time just trying to get the ball in. And when we did, we had more turnovers.....geez. You'd think with a week off, we'd be better prepared.
2) Both teams, but ours in particular, were pitiful on the defensive boards...we gave them chance after chance after chance.....not what you want to do against the first place team.
3) We really missed a lot of little shots....Karl White on the fast break and right after that Armond missing that dunk (which I thought was the turning point). Armond was also blocked on a couple layups. Bowen spun and missed an easy layup.....we've got to convert those easy buckets...and quit looking for the exclamation point (Armond that means you)...
On the bright side, Banks and Poole looked great. If Poole would play with that intensity every game, we may not be fighting for the 3 seed at this point....
From here on out we need to take care of business, especially against WSU and UWGB. We need that 3 seed so we don't have to play UWM in the semis. I'd much rather have them in the finals where you hope they have a hard time beating us for a third time in a row.....

Have to give the Panthers credit. We played their game, again.
The Flames KNOW they don't have the bench to play frantic, shoot-em-up basketballl. They KNOW Milwaukee is a mediocre half-court team.
Yet there we were, frantically playing catch-up up with a team that can substitute at will.
Sheesh.
Anyway, Milwaukee wins the Horizon and for the Flames its wait till next year.
So, cheeseburgers, congratulations and I apologize for anything mean I said about UWM.
Nice kitties.

I don't know what to take away from this game. We lost, but we didn't play that bad.
The bad points:
Collum didn't come to play. If he played half as well as he had been the past few games, we could had won.
Banks had too many errors. Errand passes, unwise shots. And I wish he was more aggressive in the second half.
Williams tried too hard to show off. A couple of times he could had gone for a lay up, or gotten the rebound, bring it down and gone for a lay up. But no, he went for the dunks.
We couldn't overcome the press. I know we can do better against the press, but I don't know what happened today.
But there were some bright spots too.
Banks did well in the first half.
We played well on the half-court defense. Williams played the passing lanes well.
Poole was a monster inside. There was no stopping him.
And I think we exposed UWM's weakness. They don't have a half court offense. They scored most of their points off the press. I think if we play them again, we need to concentrate on that. Maybe Jimmy knows this already. But I think we need to focus more on getting good baskets on our end, and play defense on the other. Also, we need to break the press better. We threw too many bad passes. Just too many.

One last thing...
I'm tired of TV making the TapeRecorder seem like the good guy in this whole Pearl vs Collins feud. Of course, they focus on the handshake after the game, and there ESPN goes making Pearl seem like the good guy by at least offering a hand shake. Really, his offerings are getting old. Doesn't he realize he's not going to get a shake from Jimmy? Maybe if he recorded games like he recorded conversations he'd be able to repeatedly see that Jimmy will not be giving him any love.

He is a good sport thats all unlike JImmy. Jimmy is a classless pile of crap. Bruce is a man and can put things in the past. Bruce was the good guy in the whole thing. Jimmy was in the wrong and he was the one who screwed up and got BUSTED....Jimmy should man up and shake hands like an adult. Way to set an example to al those kids out there watching Jimmy, thats a way to model your high class program

Never once the whole game did I feel UWM would even come close to losing. They controlled the tempo and dominated the whole game except for those few minutes where UIC made a run. We dominated once again, and will do so in the finals.
Dont go hoping for a three seed it looks like a 5 seed is more realistic now that you are tied with WSU and Loyola>>>> Hahhahahahahah Loyola is taking over as th ebetter team in the conference...LOSERS

Hate to agree with the jerk, but Collins did act like a baby after the game. When Banks was having trouble getting open what happened to a hard pick or two man screen? I forgot the League sent Kickert a letter telling him it didn't like that style of play. UIC evidently took it to heart. Why didn't we put Petrusic into the game to physically intimidate Tigert when he had three and four fouls? Armond plays with the Heart of a seven footer but has small hands. He's missed about ten one hand jambs thisyear. Coaching is about telling him to use two hands or lay the ball in.

Bruce Pearl is a worthless piece of garbage. The only way Jimmy should shake his hand is if he picks his nose first.
Pearl broke several laws and nearly ruined the program at Illinois. He deserves a fate worse than AIDS. The bad karma his past brings to the UWM program is the reason they and he will never achieve any real success (remember Dylan Paige's missed layup against Notre Dame in the NCAA tournament at the last second ?).
He knows Jimmy wants nothing to do with him, yet he continues to be a drill rod and force the issue because the camera's are rolling. Why did'nt he come to shake hands after Jimmy kicked his ass in the tourney finals last year ? Because he is a chicken-s@#! pu$$y.

Yeah and I also remember the way UIC embarassed the entire Horizon League vs Kansas last year. 2 more pts and UWM would have beaten Notre Dame. It would have taken a lot more than 2 pts for UIC to beat Kansas.
Bruce is trying to show the world that he has and can move on. Jimmy is the one making the scene not Bruce. Doesn't matter cuz Bruce will soon move up to a major program leaving Jimmy at UIC forever.

"Pearl broke several laws and nearly ruined the program at Illinois. He deserves a fate worse than AIDS"
Dude get a life. This is basketball for god sakes. That was an absolute ridiculous comment. I may come on here and talk alot of s@#! and say some real dumb things but come on, that is going way way wya wya overboard. JASON T- you have to agree with me here. That was absolutley uncalled for and completely and totally insensitive to that population. Show some respect and empathy instead of acting like such a low class f@#!ing loser. I dont even have words to describe how disgusted I am with that last post you made. I am not gonna pigeon hold the whole University for that comment but I would sure hope he gets banned or something, cause that was way out of line and that truly speaks volumes of the type of person you are

Horizonleaguer,
YOU are the guest here. You don't like what you see, you are free to move on. You come here and post inciting, stupid posts, and then expect respect ? Sorry pal. How dare you come here and try to dictate policy. YOU get lost and take your smegma dripping coach with you.

*cough cough* I believe you are also a guest here Tape Recorder, as is so clearly stated beneath your unregistered name!
Yeah I would say that at time HL'er does stir up a lot of sh#% on this board, and it keeps things active, but the things you say disrespect certain masses far beyond basketball fans. I doubt HL'er was actually expecting respect himself, just exhibit respect for everyone.
Given the tone of your posts I'd expect to see you lurking in the shadows on the upper level of a game with sniper rifle in hand ready to knock of some targets. Simmer down and support your team, as HL'er stated "this is basketball for god sakes!"

Sorry, I didn't notice that comment. Let's refrain from wishing death upon other coaches, players, fans, etc. It falls under my definition of pure stupidity.
I'm not going to lock this, so please don't make another comment about that insanity, or it will be ended.
This thread is about UIC falling to UWM. Check out the subject. Talk about it.
