I really don't like the fact that Jimmy strictly recruits, well black public school players, players like Zack Pancrantz on UWM (from Schaumburg high school) should playing for UIC. He's a terrible recruiter, no doubt. He simply got lucky w/the Banks, Bailey, and Williams class. There really is a boatload of talent in the public league. Elliott Poole is a great talent regardless of how he's played so far. Banks, Bailey, Williams, Carr, Ford, Miller are all big time talents. A lot of times they are unable to attend big schools which do not take prop 48s. In any case, I think for the most part, Collins has mixed his recruiting. I think we have 3 non-public league players coming in next year.

Yea three non-public leaguers, but from different countries.....I'm not denying the public league is good at all man, but you can find some real intelligent and just as athletic players elsewhere in Illinois.

Jimmy Collins, Inc. is one of the best recruiters and one of the best personnel managers in the HL. With regard to talent, he has craftily mixed JUCOs with transfers with Prop 48s with stud recruits. He knows that the most important game on the schedule is ALWAYS Loyola.
But he has never been a good game coach, with regard to x's and o's. That was Loyola's problem with Farmer, who might have been even worse at game situations. I think he misses Gene Cross, who would be a stud head coach at UIC. (But has no chance because Jimmy, Inc. is locked in until 2009).
You could tell that something was missing from this squad when they played at Loyola. They never put it together until the last four or five minutes-- low motivation, too much improvising. If Loyola had senior guard DaJuan Gouard and if the students were on campus the outcome might have been different.
I'm looking forward to a good game on Thursday. I can't imagine the Flames won't be up for the game big time-- they're going to get an earful from the CEO of Jimmy Collins, Inc. all week long in practice.

I hope that's true. In which case, it would be a good game, and we may win (not trying to knock Loyola, just stating that we have a better chance of winning if both teams put up their best).

Lets go back with Jimmy a ways. In 97-98 Miller and Stavropolous left with a season of eligibility left. 98-99 Ian Hanavan transfered to Evansville. 99-00 Notree comes to UIC from downstate and never developed. 00-01 Mo Brown (top scorer) leaves team. Corey Little all stater from addison never developed. Last year Bailey and Banks sat a semester for academics. It was said they passed the summer school classes they took at the programs recomendation, however the classes they took didn't meet NCAA guidelines for the completion of a degree. Most recently, Bailey is ineligible, Williams had to sit out the semester. Smith and McGee left the team. A players coach that graduates everyone??

It is certainly embaressing when the fans are showing more heart than the players.
