I for one, will not be disappointed if Damaria doesn't come back. Also glad this is possibly Diggins and Ahale's last game.

Officially in offseason mode to we wait and see who comes back, who possibly transfers, and maybe we will get some commitments because of as of this moment we only have one.

Very good second half but when you play like horses@#! half one what do you expect? Disappoint year I’m my mind. They need to get better and fast. F MVC is a different animal.

Just noticed that Zion didn’t play tonight. What’s up with that? Will he be back?
Played a much better 2nd half but couldn’t get a stop or stop fouling at the end. And had a huge mountain to climb after that 1st half. And we had a couple massive turnovers. That one by Diggins that led to the 3 on the other end was just a dagger to put us down 4 after we had taken the lead 61-60.
Well now we have 4 or so days of a head start to start getting better. Better hit recruiting hard.

It looked like Zion was banged up near the end of the game against Milwaukee.
It will be a very interesting off season

Although I'm disappointed, I did see gradual improvement from Coach Yak and the way he coached this squad. As most of us have mentioned before, he just needs to get players that will buy into his system and have the "want to" to play defense. The staff has a month to get out personally and talk to recruits. If they have to, then repeatedly mention that we're going to the Missouri Valley, a very good conference that has the 22nd ranked team. Do whatever they have to do (outside of paying students) to get signatures. This offseason is EXTREMELY important!!!

Chuck, I do think the offense and defense has been really good in spurts. I think the bigger issue is the lack of players. Jace Carter is probably our best defender. But this team has got to have at least something inside (on both sides of the court). Diggins playing center is far from ideal. We had a tough time keeping people out of the lane all year…tonight included. Tough time rebounding as well. On offense, it would be nice to have some inside threat for when we need an easier shot.
I’ve seen that we offered a big man…6’11” I think. Really we need multiple guys…
Outside of that, we have got to value the basketball. It did us in tonight…again. We have got to drill it into players’ heads (or get different players) that the turnovers we commit can’t happen. We are capital S sloppy. Jace Carter standing out of bounds again tonight? Come on. How many times? And stop pushing the ball so fast without awareness of where the opponent is.
I hope Coach understands what pieces we need going forward, because this is not going to cut it again. Competition is about to step up and I really would rather not immediately be known as one of the worst Valley teams of all time.

Chuck I agree they got better as the season went on defensively but the offense was pretty bad all year. They have to get out of this mindset that shooting 30threes a game (many contested) is the way to win. As Big D said turnovers are the death of teams. They have to value the ball better. I also agree yak has to find size. This May of been the smallest team in UIC history. Diggins is not a center he’s a small forward playing center. You have to somehow find a tough big that’s 6ft10 or bigger. Defensively they did get better no doubt and they never gave up even games they were down 20 or more. I would like to see some trapping and pressing more. Why not mix it up? Yak has the passion now he needs some talent. I hope he somehow can recruit more local. The talent in Chicagoland is pretty amazing.

I know it is old news as it was almost a year ago, but since everyone is bringing up how Diggins isn't a Center but was forced to play center due to our roster, I wish we all knew more of the story of Braelen Bridges. With us he started 3 games and averaged 10 points/5 rebounds. He transfers to Georgia where he starts and ends up with her averages in points (12.6) and rebounds (5.4) for a P5 team.
I wonder how we didn't give more of a chance to a 6'11" player that was on our roster? Or other issues? But someone that can't start for us goes to Georgia and becomes a starter there seems odd.

Do whatever they have to do (outside of paying students) to get signatures. With NIL, you can pay recruits now, sort of.

Do whatever they have to do (outside of paying students) to get signatures. With NIL, you can pay recruits now, sort of. Can you elaborate on this? Does this give UIC an advantage over other schools because we’re in a much larger market with more companies/sponsors that are willing to pay players? That, in combination with a move to the Valley, is something we really need to be taking advantage of. We should be routinely competing with other very strong mid-majors for talent, at least.
