Looks like we are losing Dee Brown. Leaving to be head coach at Roosevelt. Going to be a tough loss. Interested to see who we get to replace him

Dang - I speculated that he may be leaving after seeing the team's Twitter account post the coaching staff for father's day - and Dee was excluded. While I have no doubt he brought some great culture to the team - and I'm appreciative for his time, I did think we wouldve gotten some better local recruits during his tenure. Hope things work out for him at Roosevelt - and that Yak will be able to get someone great in to replace him!

If true, much luck to him. Obviously very popular with the players. Honestly, I’m shocked he put in 5 years here. I figured he’d have another opportunity before this. Call up Dan Muller

Not really surprised overall. When he was hired, I assumed it would just be for a season or two. He obviously has something that he was able to survive a coaching change though. Happy overall for him. Additionally, even though it’s a lower level, it does show that you can come here and be an assistant and we get a head coaching gig somewhere which makes it a little more attractive for others.
To be honest, I was expecting a little bit more from the higher. He’s a legend in the area and not sure we really saw that in recruiting or on the court. But that’s just my overall observation and doesn’t mean it’s true.

I would think Dan Muller makes a lot of sense. Stay a year or two, improve the team and get another head coaching job As far as Dee Brown, I did not see us get one top Chicago area recruit, most are not from the area Granted I don't know which players he did get to come to UIC

Highly doubt Dan Mueller gets hired as he is currently getting paid $500,000 a year the next two years to sit at home and do nothing. He signs a contract with UIC and that buyout money goes bye bye

Congratulations to Coach Brown. Now coach Yaklich can take a little time and interview some quality candidates. It's my opinion that Steve McClain hired Dee because of his Illinois/Chicagoland connection and legend status to help draw local talent and why Yak kept him on. That obviously was overrated and really didn't pan out. Wish him the best.

It will depend how the contract is worded. Most of them have wording stating that they most be actively pursue a job with about the same position. Dee Brown was a great guy for Chicago. He probably could just run camps and make more money then he was paid.

I agree he could make more money off just camps himself. According to the salary data he was right around 89k at UIC. He gets 10 kids charges them $1,000 a month for training he’s already at 120k for the year

Extremely serious. Charge $50 a hour which is very reasonable for a former NBA player to charge. That’s only 20 hours of training for a month to get to $1,000 a month.
