Glad I missed this one. Down 11-1 to start and closest we got after that is 8? Lol! Big problem with UIC is slow starts that give other teams and their fans confidence…once they have that, they’ve got the advantage.
Like I said, Yak is done…it’s just a matter of when we buy him out. With 2 years remaining we owe him 75% thanks to the bad extension. So that means we probably owe him like 600k after this season. Or we wait til the end of next year when it drops to a 50% buyout….so roughly 225k.
Until then, we’re going to enjoy some ups and many more downs.

Yeah I think he's got a year left after this and he is gone.

January and thinking of new coaches. Ugh. I hate being a UIC fan.
Overall, how pathetic we are in the MVC. Murray State and Belmont treated it like an honor. We treated it like nothing. We don’t deserve it.
This program is just pathetic overall. Lifeless.

It's sad because the diehards on this blog all want a winner. We know it can be done. Hallberg and Collins did it. Yak has to recruit more locall somehow. The Curie kid is a start but we need more. I think he also needs to reevaluate the offense he runs way to predictable and side to side. Bradley totally scouted it and was ready and ate them up.

Also and I know I harp on this one but why not give Fens some time? Is he really that bad that he can't get a minute of PT? He can rebound, set picks and block shots. He seems like a good kid. I have no idea why he doesn't get a shot,

Re Fens, the only thing I can think of is that Yak values a big that can step out and shoot the 3 so much that he can’t put Fens out there, because then he’d be playing 4 on 5 on offense. We have ZERO post plays…ZERO. So if he can’t shoot the 3, Yak can’t use him. Again, I know nothing and can only speculate, but that’s the only thing that makes sense.
I am so sick of “live/die by the 3” as our offensive identity. It doesn’t work. We’ve been trying it for almost a decade. You need to be able to play inside as well. Everyone sees this except the people in charge.

If that’s the case, then why did Yak even recruit him?
Just another frustrating era of UIC basketball.

Exactly why was he recruited then? BTW I asked a certain alum the same question. He was baffled by it as well and he happens to be director of basketball ops for the timberwolves.
