If this freshman PG is the real deal next year you can move jones to off guard that's a nice combo Jones is good

If there’s a god, he hates UIC. Yak has to be the only coach in the country who should seal his own career with a win. Hysterically incompetent. Three straight chances to inbound, and blow it. Take Okani off inbounds. This has been happening all year. Either the players aren’t executing or coach is drawing up crap plays. Either way, it’s on the coach. When it means closing out the game, you have to perform. Missed FTs at the end. Hell, even with a win you have to question what in the hell we’re doing.
Three Redbirds out today including Burford, We’d have lost this one had he played.
Anyway, I guess nice to win one and get one back against the team that began the souring of our season.

Am I the only one that feels like they lost? Agree how any coach can continue to let Okani inbound or not draw up a good play is beyond me, Wins a win but man was that awful.

A win is a win but to feel so unsure about this team at this point of the year feels awful.
Why doesn’t Fens get any playing time? Same with Ojukwu. He had athleticism, good size, good defense, and has shown some on offense. Why? Clay will get big minutes and then nothing.
How can we establish any rhythm without any established rotations?
It’s maddening and how can the team not feel that too?

Since the game was on Marquee my dad watched and one of my good buddies who is an Iowa State fan so totally unbiased. I asked both of them their thoughts on the game. Both said it made no sense for Fens to play so little since he did fine while in the game and ISU pounds it down low. They also said the final 3 min for UIC was comical. As for the other freshman I honestly think he could be the best athlete on the team and would love to see more of him. Also to have a player like Kennedy a steady PG who can nail FT in clutch and run the offense down the stretch not play In the final minutes is just a ridicolous oversight by yak. Jones and Rivera were panicking the final 2 min and awful

Fens needs more minutes, but I felt he was moving a little slow out there to start. Seemed to have a hard time keeping up with the speed of their starter. He’s so big, he’s still able to be somewhat effective (e.g. he had that monster block), but he probably could’ve been called for a second quick foul. Yak brought him back in later to matchup up with their beefy Walker. Not sure why he didn’t stay in long. Skobalj just brings more on the offensive side I guess. Ojukwu is very energetic and needs more time. He is very foul prone though. He’s like Jordan Blount but on defense.
We were really lucky to win the game. We won, but that is a typical UIC finish going back to the Moore days, but more particularly to the McClain days. Our offensive drought happened at the end until Pickett’s great shot. It’s all 1 on 1 dribbling and forcing up a bad shot. I don’t understand how we can’t move the ball and get someone a decent look. And I’ve already said enough on the inbounding.
Just fortunate to pull that one off because it would’ve been an epic collapse.
