I also got good news and bad news after I called the UIC ticket office today.
The bad news: I asked the dude on the phone "Can I still use my I-Card to get into the Pav for the Flame games?" He said "No, you have to be a CURRENT student in order to get in with an I-Card."
The good news is I did buy a ticket 6-pack (A ticket for 6 total Flame games at the Pav). I'll be at the Pav for the home opener (St. Xavier), and the following 5 games. Ole Miss, NIU, Loyola, UWM, and Wright State.
$55 for 6 Flame tickets is a good deal. But I swear I read on here you don't have to be a current UIC student to see the games for free as long as you still have your I-Card.

Hey Jason, we've been trying to use a different nickname for the Pavilion. A few of us are calling it The Inferno. The Pav sounds so......generic and corny. We're trying to go along the lines of The Pit (New Mexico State), The Shoe (The Shoemaker Center/Cincinnati), The Dean Dome, etc.
What are your thoughts?

Well "The Oven" would be somewhat related with the Flames nick, but that sounds too vague to me.
I actually think that place might be renamed Jimmy Collins Arena when I can say "The Jimmy Collins era is over at UIC." But there are probably other past men's b-ball Flame coaches that were better overall. Hallberg Arena comes to my mind (I hope I spelled his name right). I recall Willie Little having one great season when he was the Flame coach.

Jason, Nice choices for the season ticket plan. Those are the best games at home this year. As for the I-card, I think that if you actually tried to use it, it would work. I think that you are only supposed to use it while you are a student but they have worked for years after graduation. They just want alumni to but season tickets. It worked on me too!

It worked on me too! as for the icard (been the same for 5-10 years), all you have to do is show them iit.. they'll pull out a electronic scanner... dont be scared my friend.. they just scan the ticket not your card... they just look at it tha'ts it...

I know when I was a student, I'd show them the I-card (show a Pavilion usher/supervisor actually), and then the Pavilion worker would gimme the ticket, I walk in, another person tears off the stub half of the ticket, and then that's it. No scanning back then (and this was the late 90s).
But I guess now, you gotta show the I-card to someone in the box office window, they give me the ticket, and then someone at the Pav entrance scans the ticket itself.
I guess I could try testing them out for a game I do NOT have a ticket for already. Like the Chicago State game in December.

Does anything else come with that 6-game package (food, drinks, t-shirt) you purchased? I didn't see that package at uicflames.com. I did see a $60 6-game package which comes with a voucher for a case of Pepsi or something like that. But $55 for 6 games is good, considering each one costs $15....you saved $35! Although, I think I would've replaced the home opener (or NIU) with Davidson....they're a solid mid-major...should be a good game.
As far as the i-card, as of last year, you did not have to bring your card to the box-office...you'd just show it to a person handing out tickets by the turnstyles and in you go. Maybe they're trying something new this year...

My opinion is that there is nothing wrong with supporting your program throught buying season tickets. That is how programs grow. That is also why I buy them. We are not students anymore and shouldn't be trying to get in for free. I just think that once you get a graduate and get a job, it is then time to act like an adult and buy tickets just like everybody else. If everybody was using 10 year old I cards, how is anything going to change? The program needs more season ticket holders to grow. Just my opinion.

Yeah, the dude on the phone mentioned this Pepsi 24-pack voucher that comes with the package I bought. He didn't mention anything else I'd get like a t-shirt. There were 2 games the UIC ticket office chose themselves (the NIU game and the Loyola game). The other 4 I chose myself The only reason why I chose the St, Xavier game is because that game is the regular-season home opener. Home openers in college b-ball may not be as big as baseball home openers in April. But still.... I would have VIP service in the Dragon's Den if I bought a season ticket instead of the 6-game package. I could've bought 2 packages for $100, but I didn't want 2 tickets to each of the 6 games. I dunno anyone in my life who would be interested in watching college basketball, including the female friends I talk to.

I got something at work promoting UIC games as a corporate outing. I got a kick out of it.
