I stopped home at lunch today and found something from UIC...I then found out it wasn't my tickets. C'mon guys...I couldn't get a ticket for the Sox this weekend, at least give me my UIC tix! (Although I may have something in the works if there is a game 6!!!!!) Lol, this is funny.... everyone seems to have "a way" to get tickets..... Yeah, "my way" would be very simple...(a) know the VP of a company who has a corporate suite who would have tickets for game six, (b) there is game six. Now I am a skeptic and I won't believe it until I have my ticket it hand, but at least it is nice to know that I might have a shot at a ticket.

I actually think that place might be renamed Jimmy Collins Arena when I can say "The Jimmy Collins era is over at UIC." But there are probably other past men's b-ball Flame coaches that were better overall. Hallberg Arena comes to my mind ........... I recall Willie Little having one great season when he was the Flame coach. Jason T, you are so funny at times, because you can't possibly mean what you just wrote. Other Flames coaches that were better overall? Which one of them led UIC to 4 postseason appearances? They were good coaches, but not better overall than Jimmy, in spite of what we point out as his shortcomings.

Maybe I'll get my tickets today, since I'm in the south suburbs. In baseball terms, Jimmy Collins is just about as good as Dusty Baker. Both of them are good enough to take their respective teams to the next level (although it depends on how talented the Flame players are in Jimmy's case). Although Jimmy Collins is the only Flame coach to take them to the Big Dance and the NIT's...and although Baker is the only Cub manager to win a playoff series in recent history, did he at least get the Cubs in a World Series? Nope.
Likewise, has Jimmy Collins actually WON a postseason game as a Flames head coach? Nope. And likely never will. Because when UIC plays in the Big Dance, the selection committee never gives him or the Flames a break. The Flames always get a first round opponent that's meant to knock the Flames out in cakewalk fashion.
I'm still peed off they'll give UWM an easy first-round opponent, but they won't give UIC a first round opponent that has the potential of losing in the first round and become one of the "upset victims" of a mid-major team. Sh1t, the committee even gave UWM "home court advantage" by allowing them to play Alabama on CSU's court!
You can argue Jimmy Collins has no control over who the committee picks as UIC's first round opponent. But one would think Collins himself is tired of just being in the Big Dance. Especially since UIC Athletics will give him extra money for every postseason win the Flames get. I'm not making that up. I recall him signing a contract extension in 2004 which includes incentives for every Flame postseason win.
Well, I sincerely wish him good luck in getting those "incentives." Collins isn't good at coaching against big-name teams on the road. Those '02 and '04 Big Dance games were practically road games for UIC.
