Does anybody on here follow any other UIC sports besides basketball? It can be hard seeing as UIC sports doesn't get very much support overall, but just curious. I follow soccer as best as I can and am even getting into the softball a little (they beat two ranked team in the NCAA tournament last season) but have to say that behind basketball, baseball is my favorite, who by the way was picked by Baseball America to win conference. So just thought I'd ask.

When I attended UIC I always tried to keep up with softball and soccer....i didn't see any games but I always wanted to see how they were doing....and both teams were amazing while I was there.
By the way, what do you think of the new soccer coach hire (Trask)? His resume is pretty impressive and he will likely only improve this program.

I don't know anything personally about Trask, but his resume does seem very impressive. A guy with MLS experience as well as assistant coach at national power Indiana, seems to show that he knows what he is doing. UIC is a solid program and they have some pretty good talent. They had a tough season last year, but the players are there. I was a little disappointing seeing Tyler Cuba, their big signing two seasons ago, leave the team for some reason. I don't know why he left or where he went though since i'ts hard to find soccer news.

wow,t hey got rid of sasha? He resigned at the end of last season. I am not sure why. Granted, they did have a pretty disappointing season, but alot of good young players coming back.

Look out, because the UIC women's basketball team is slowly starting to make some noise. In their last game, they set a record for attendance (nearly 3000). Also, with the win, they extended their win streak to 8 games (9 wins in a row is a record for them).
Currently they sit in second place in conference with a record of 9-3...not too shabby considering their performance in past years.

Unfortunately for the UIC Women's team, I think that attendance was because UIC bussed in alot of kids because it was an afternoon game and it was dedicated to Women In Sports day. But hey, they are playing much better basketball so good for them!

But hey, they are playing much better basketball so good for them! You're right, John. I attended that game, and most (95%) were kids from local schools. It was great to see. The kids were really into it, in all honesty, but there were really only me and like 10 other paid fans.

It really is too bad because it's hard enough for the men's team to get fans and then being women's basketball, it has to fight even harder. I wish athletics at UIC as a whole were more recognized. I actually went to a few of my first softball games last season and I am talking crowds of 40-50 which is really too bad because last seasons softball team was pretty good. I saw a few tournament games and UIC just dominated. Not even close.

Ha, yea i heard a little after half time the place was empty because the kids had to leave. but at least they're winning.
