Anybody here as big of a music freak as I am? I am constantly listening to music and always searching for new bands.
My all-time favorite is Pearl Jam (Eddie Vedder is the man), but I am really into so many bands right now....some of them being Sun Kil Moon, Red House Painters, Nada Surf, The Thrills, Wilco, and Beck....
So what does everyone else like?

I am not that big of a music guy. However, lately, I am listening to more classic rock type of stuff. I cannot say that I'm into all of that rap or hip hop or anything. Whenever walking past my dorm room, one is most likely to hear the tunes of a Led Zeppelin or The Who than a Jay Z or Eminem. however, I admit that I am by no means an expert on music.

Yeah, that is the same band. Straight outta Zion, IL "As Good As Dead" was probably their most main stream album, but they've had some pretty good success recently. They had an album come out about a year ago. They went through some tough times as the drummer quit, and since there is only two of them, that's a big part of the band But their new drummer, Brian St. Claire is actually much better and they're a great concert band. Despite not being main stream, they're actually doing alot more shows around the country so it's harder to hear them here as much as I used to.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Lucky Boys Confusion did break up. I think it happened about a year ago. I cannot say I have heard any of their music ever, but Wilco is supposed to be the thing these days, and they're out of Chicago.

LBC's the s@#! man, and they are still together, they released a cd about march last year im thinking, great music. There from Downers Grove, but still best ever local band is Smashing Pumkins. I can never get board of listening to Billy Corgan odd singing voice.
Other music im listining to is Lost Prophets, modest mouse, postal service, and lit, to name a few. Also I work for a band out here at ISU, Mike and Joe, they are a cover band and play a lot of shows around college towns, and in the city. Check out their website mikeandjoe.com, really good band.

OH hell yea, smashing pumpkins used to rock... i remember hearing stories from a chick "i was following" that billy corgan was in class with her friend and he was really quiet... not surprising.. but LBC was amazing.. i didnt hear of them until i started attending UIC and they were pretty big... local h, mest, allister, alkaline trio, chevelle, disturbed.. etc etc great music scene out here...

since spike1057 brought up a few bands Postal Service, Modest Mouse, both of which are great bands, if you enjoy the type of music (some people don't thats why i say that), then check out Bright Eyes, The Shins, and Frou Frou, i know it sounds liek a pretty messed up name but you will like them if you like the postal service and modest mouse.
Taking Back Sunday and Death Cab for Cutie are pretty good too.
