I am sick of tired of all of this NHL news. Labor talks, strike possibilities, players and owners at fault, etc. How many times have we been told that the season will b cancelled and how many more stories will I have to see about this? Bottom line is that very few care about hockey and very f ew miss it. I am not saying that I hate hockey but when it's the hockey season, I have very little interest. And quite frankly, I don't miss it. Just cancel the season of what is the least favorite, by far, of the four major sports!

Anyone remember the MLB strike years and years ago?? Well, if i remember correctly it took the league a few years to get attendance back up. I hope the NHL takes a hit too. We live in a country where so many people make seven figure salaries and a country where so many people don't make anything at all, and here we have professional athletes making millions and millions of dollars for a few months, and they're complaining, screw it.

It did take the MLB years to recover and many believe that it recovered because of the Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire home run chas. But look at hockey; it is not nearly as popular as baseball, IMO. If you take hockey, baseball, basketball, and football as the four major sports, hockey is by far the least popular. I am not going to say that the NHL is going to fold or anything, but this is a league that cannot afford a strike.

I am not a hockey fan but they're going to get everything they deserve as far as future fan support. The players complain that they aren't making the big bucks....you know, since they're professional athletes, they're entitled to money like basketball players and even baseball players. What they don't realize is that there is very little interest in hockey, and therefore, small market means salary limitations. If they don't understand it, then tough....they're going to alienate more fans and end up getting less money. Lose the egos and play the game....they should be very grateful for what they make because just a fraction of the money they make would help me a great deal. As for baseball, I am so sick of that right now. I better not hear of anybody on the Cubs taking steroids (other than Sammy who very likely juiced). I think it is completely unfair and all these records that are falling is a crock to me.

From what I've heard, a lot of the hockey players found work in Europe.
The irony is that while that effectively defeats the lockout, the end result is players working for less than NHL wage.
So who REALLY wins?

Well, I'd say that if you were an NHL player who actually enjoyed playing hockey and appreciate getting paid for it, then you win. Or even Chris Chelios. He's plaing for some minor league team in Detroit. He has enough money. He's in his 40's and he doesn't have to play, but he is.

This has been really an emotional roller coaster for me. I have been sitting here waiting and waiting for them to cancel the season. First it was Monday, then Tuesday, now Wednesday. All I want for Christmas is no more hockey, and they won't just do it.
Without hockey, ESPN has been such a better station. No hockey on TV, no hockey highlights, no hockey in the top 10 plays, & no NHL tonight. It's so awesome.
There are three major sports in this country. Hockey is no more important than the MLS.

That's how I feel. It bothers me enough when Sportscenter has to take up a portion of it's time to air hockey "highlights". Now it is really getting on my nerves when it's the head story!

Can this be? The hockey season is back from the dead. I don't know if any of you are "Mike & Mike" fans, but it looks like the interviews last week with Gary Bettman & Goodenow may have done the trick. A proposed cap at 45 million per squad. sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1994750

I feel old when watching the NHL. All of my favorite players are either retired or are close to retirement. Then there are younger players coming in and things like this strike that just make it more difficult to follow.
That's what I like about college sports...no strikes.

Okay, so what exactly is going on here?
First, they strike. Then they realize how greedy they are, that the league is just not popular and that they can't afford to lose the handful of fans that they have, and they come to an agreement. Then they strike again? Personally, I think that by doing all of this, they are pissing off the people who actually like hockey even more. I hope that they come to an agreement, have the rest of the season, average 1000 fans a game, and end up losing even more money!
