The Flames completely dominated Wright State today, final score 4-1. UIC ties for second in the Horizon League, but gets third seed in the H.L. tourney because of a tie-breaker.
They started slowly, looking rusty after a week off. Wright State came out attacking and scored a quick goal. But from that point forward the Flames took command of the game.
This team looks ready for the tournanment, which starts Saturday at Flames Field.
So, basketball fans, try to attend. The weather forecast is sunny and 65 degrees, and for 5 dollars, you can't go wrong.

I see that they have a match up against Bradley before next weekends HL tournament. That should be a nice little game to get us ready. And also, a nice win which could possibly get us an at large if we lose in the tournament?

The only two scenarios I see to get to the NCAA are to beat Bradley and make the Horizon finals, or lose to Bradley and win the Horizon outright.
Either scenario would probably require defeating UW-Milwaukee at Milwaukee in the second round, so its a long shot at best.
But this is a team that has defied expectations all season, so anything's possible.

My mistake. The highest remaining seed after Saturday hosts the last two rounds of the tournament. So the most likely scenario still has the Flames playing UWM in the second round, but in Detroit, not Milwaukee.
I like those odds a lot better.

Yeah, playing at a neutral site rather than at UWM would definitely help. One game at a time though. I should be able to make it out to UIC on Saturday though and hopefully we can keep it up.
