This is the official we-hate-Massachusetts thread, and I just thought a good way to "stahht ahf" would be to remind everyone that WE AREN'T THE ONLY ONES!! Check out: http://www.ma$$hole.com/ Its dated, but it will give you a sense of the general hate. For an overview of the illustrious history of the term: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma$$holeAnd for more definitions than bihs in Bahstahn: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ma$$holeTo show how completely depraved these yankee rednecks are, they even sell t-shirts: http://ma$$holeproshop.com/ But what does any of this have to do with the fair city of Chicago, you might ask? Well, it just so happens that their MLS soccer team, the New England Revolution, has, in recent years, been making a habit of prematurely ending our beloved Chicago Fire's seasons in the MLS playoffs. The latest incident occured just last month, when Chicago was beaten by Twellman's sensational reverse-kick goal that split two defenders and landed in the net. Enough is enough!! If the NCAA wants to save their hides by sparing them the indignity of playing in front of both the Fury AND Section 8, so be it. There's no way it would have been a fair game in Chicago - it would have been OPEN SEASON. So let the pampered brats take their best game back to their playground, and LETS NAIL THEM, FLAMES!! ITS PAYBACK TIME!! TheY can run, but they can't hide (epsecially in A postage stamp-sized state like Mass.).

And you knew those $$ wouldn't work in the address, right?
It doesn't look very interesting.

The Flames are everywhere! Dunjer, Trask, and Bilbrey were in the Q & A section of the Red Eye this morning, and now this: blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/soccer_redcard/2007/12/trask-uic-here.html#moreGood to see this team and program finally getting the recognition they deserve. I like what he said about the city of Chicago being an easy sell to recruits. It sure as heck should be, with the killer view of the skyline from the athletic fields and all that. I also can't help but think that UIC's shiny new South Campus and the now-upscale surrounding neighborhood doesn't hurt, either. I'd like to think that UIC is here to stay, and I only hope that Trask is "here to stay" at UIC!

Illinois-Chicago at Massachusetts (Sunday, noon ET) The unlikeliest quarterfinal we've seen in years. UMass is participating in just its second-ever tourney (they were bounced in the second round six years ago), while UIC went on the road to beat Northwestern and then Creighton to earn a trip to Amherst. The Minutemen made it to this stage by beating cupcake foe Central Connecticut State, 3-1, in round three, but are tough to beat at home. The Flames lack flash but are defensively sound. Plus, they are led by one of the nation's top young coaches in third-year boss John Trask, a former assistant with Indiana and MLS sides D.C. United and FC Dallas. It's hard to pick a winner in this one, but Trask's leadership and experience could be the difference. soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=488326&root=ncaa&cc=5901

10 minutes to game time. I'm ready to get this one started. I really think that whoever scores first is going to win this game. I think that will be the only goal too. Twi tough defenses going at it in this one.
Good luck Flames!

Mike Giffin ties the game up on a great one-timer! There was a ton of jeering going on after the goal and he blows a big kiss to the crowd.
Let's go Flames!
