Thanks again for putting the work in on this Big D. In some cases though it does show how statistics can be misleading. After watching that painful second half yesterday I give you a lot of credit for sticking with it.

I also thank Big D for consistently putting together the efficiency rating in light of the "lack of interest" that now permeates this site. The numbers and results often paint different pictures, that's for sure, but maybe they now could be used for some observation. Why Green hasn't seen more time is absolutely beyond me. His numbers, here, reflect a reasonable contribution while on the floor. He GETS rebounds and can score in close, IF he gets the opportunity with our "no down low offense!" Not that I think he's the second coming of Wilt Chamberlin, he IS active down there, pushes for position, is physical and could certainly use the experience. We'll need a lot of that for next year. for sure....... Buttell's our best, most complete player, and playing way out of position.. doing what he can, when he can to help, but we aren't helping him by running an offense designed to capitalize on his strengths. Robbins could make WAY more of an impact than he is.... at 7 feet... he needs to be a presence out on the floor at all times and he isn't, though his numbers reflect him as an effective player for us. In his case I think it is because of a lack of other, better numbers that should be available from the rest of the supporting cast. Best of a bad lot, so to speak. He has potential but needs very significant, INDIVIDUAL, skills work at practice with people who know how to teach and counsel big guys. You know my position on this already............He's a 7 footer who plays soft and like a 6' 3" guy............plays shorter that he is...... Neely can be a very good player for us if we ever get a definitive system for him to play/run. He can go to the basket and finish though I think he's not a real scorer in that sense, shooter but can make things happen. Does OK in the mish/mash offense we run but is lost without a real "offensive objective" Needs to get to the line more, get the ball deep and/or dish off... Kreps....big expected responsibility this year from a guy who tries very hard but has limited skills, arguably our best shooter out of a bad pack of shooters and an offense that doesn't get shooters very good looks. Guilty of a tons of forced shots, hence misses, but hey, someone's got to shoot and it might as well be him.......better shot selection, more discriminating shooter and his efficiency rating would be much higher, but it is what it is......good heart in this guy Birton, nice player in that mis/mash offense without an objective for him, either. Can rebound, play down low, score there, not a shooter, but can capitailize on playing his position close to the basket and in the lane, good compliment to/with Green if we worked together freethrow line-in, had an objective (sorry for the repeat) Stewart.....senior, regular, consistent, if not flashy, gifted or greatly skilled. Definitely not a shooter/scorer, definitely not the guy you want with the ball and an opening in this offense but works hard and gets more than his share of rebounds for a guy his size and position on the floor, think he could run an offense, if we had one, with an objective in mind besides "dribble it around the perimeter for 30 seconds and fire one off before a shot clock violation" The rest............not a shooter or very skilled guy in the upper classman bunch, Gray and Kelley NEED more floor time...........Kelley CAN shoot if given the ball in his "spots" and not forced to fire a reckless shot as time expires, Gray needs to get out there and understand what being on the floor means, play defense and help move the ball in this offense..Experience much needed for next year...........................These guys are our future............................................................ Anyway, time's almost out on this season, again thank you very much to Big D for his stat work and support

Big D, I really appreciate and enjoy the Eff. Ratings/Stats you provide after each game. In many respects they provide a genuine insight and reflection of the games' impact players. I have fun looking at the box score and game summary's in combination with your numbers and will be disappointed when the season ends.
In fairness though, I attended the game last night and then read the play-by-play this AM and there are at least two glaring errrors in the official box score that you carried forward to your stats. Robbins, who I thought played very well, had only 1 TO not 3. The 2 extra TOs the scorer gave him was when Green was in the game and Robbins was on the bench. Green should have two more TOs and Robbins two less and it's confirmed in writing.
Also, Robbins had at least 3 total blocks that I saw and another 1 or 2 tip away's that could easily have been scored as blocks. He is a much better shot blocker than I thought he would be and is currently 3rd in the Horizon League even with all the scorer's mistakes.
In any case, last night's Eff. Rating for Robbins would be .600 and Green's .200 which is a much more accurate reflection of performance...and adding back the missed blocks...Robbins would have had a .680, plus, whatever difference that makes to the running totals.
Keep up the good work and thanks again!

I was pretty sure that Green had 1 definite turnover when the ball went right through his hands on a pass near the FT line... To make it easy on me though....I just use the official box score. Tracking this stuff takes me too much time as is....if I had to correct the box score as well, I would've quit after the 3rd game. Anyway, glad you're enjoying it...even if it's not 100% accurate.
