www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/chi-tech-research-center-linked-to-u-of-i-slated-for-chicago-20130123,0,7474444.story Interesting read. I have read something about this (and I thought it was on this board as well but not sure) a little while back. It mentions, several times, University of Illinois mostly while never really getting specific between the Urbana-Champaign and Chicago campuses. I, personally, would find it idiotic to not include UIC in this project as well. This program would be literally minutes away from our campus. Hopefully, if that is the case, UIC will actually get a little credit instead of just being a side note to UIUC.

And the consumption of UIC by UIUC continues. UIUC will do anything to get their greedy little hands on Chicago. Trust me, this new center will only have "University of Illinois" associated with it....and in that case, it will only ever be associated with UIUC. Instead of letting UIC run this center and giving us the funding, your taxpayer money and donations will be used to let UIUC get another foot in the Chicago door to continue the blending of UIC and UIUC so that UIUC's rankings can continue to rise....because they now have a better medical school, a hospital, and a technical research and supercopmputing center in a world-class city. Do you think UIC's rankings are going to rise because of this? Will this center be built anywhere near UIC's campus? I'm guessing the answer is "no" to both questions.
