WOW is all I have to say. Talk about arrogance... I tried to correct their "misleading" information in the comments under rosewood Daily Illini Article

Maybe someone should forward that editorial to past President Ikenberry, who said on the 30th anniversary of the founding of UIC that we seem to suffer from low self-esteem; apparently it has nothing to do with the arrogance of UI-UC. Or maybe it should go to past President Stukel for his opinion, since he knows both campuses well; remember, he was Chancellor at UIC before he became President of the U of I system. Or maybe the editorial board of the Daily Wipe should take a look at the respective operating budgets of the two campuses; seems when I looked at that, the budget for UIC was just below 2.1 billion, UI-UC was about 1.9 billion. In other words, UIC has the bigger operating budget. It's because of the health colleges, sure, but if we're pointing out deficiencies of each campus, let it be noted that UI-UC doesn't even have a medical school. I believe the med school on their campus is administered by a regional dean reporting to the UIC chancellor.

but if we're pointing out deficiencies of each campus, let it be noted that UI-UC doesn't even have a medical school. ...hence the reason UIUC is taking over our school and hospital. It's just University of Illinois now...when there's exciting new med research, it's U of I....and since they've claimed that name for themselves, it's essentially their med program now for anyone not really in the know. The article is a waste of the web page space it was printed on. These are just some uninformed students with a superiority complex getting off on demeaning every non-Big 10 school in the state. The irony. UIUC complaining that UIC is not Big 10 material after they've single-handedly stunted UIC's growth over the years. Their own faculty have come out on the record and said they don't want a strong UIC because it would dilute the Urbana campus. They have the strongest voice to influence an already-partial Board of Trustees, which is UIUC grad heavy. Who knows how much budget money and success that has cost us over the years. We don't even need to discuss our credentials...the bottom line is there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that UIUC would ever let us into the Big 10....ever! They are probably are undermining our attempts to get into the AAU. Also I can't imagine any other team in the B10 voting in a mid-major either. The senators are completely ignorant as to how things work in college athletics...you don't just ask to upgrade a school to the B10....sheesh!

I don't give a rat's *** about the Big 10, or joining the Big 10. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but what bothers me is the academic slam of a large and major fellow campus in the same university system. The hypocrites that are Meares, Bob Easter, and Loren Taylor (he heads the alumni association) should all be ashamed to let that editorial stand without defending UIC. These are the same people that extoll the "excellence" of the campus to potential incoming high school students and recent grads of UIC.
