We head to Texas to play the University of Texas Rio Grand Valley baseball team. Admittedly I’ve never heard of them. However, they are 4-1 with two wins each over Stephen A Austin and Central Michigan. Their only loss came to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
No idea how good/bad those squads are. They are currently ‘receiving votes’ in the NCBWA polls.

They used to be Texas Pan American and Texas Brownsville that consolidated a few years ago. I was going back and forth between the baseball and basketball games. They almost blew it with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth leading 4-1. The tying and winning runs were on 3rd and 2nd base, respectively, but they got the strikeout to end it.

It definitely turned out closer than I would’ve liked it. Was 4-1 going into the bottom of the 9th. Padilla had some command issues but that dropped ball in CF didn’t help. Should’ve ended the game and I believe it was 4-1 at that time.
Yikes. We had 4 errors last night!
Either way, good start to the series. Let’s go for a series win today. Unfortunately don’t think today or tomorrow’s game are on the WAC tv feed.

Thomas Smart, Division 3 All American, is playing sparingly but I guess that’s the case when arguably our best player plays his position (3B).
Also if note, posted an article from last year that Seth Hougesen, who was a Divison II Pircher of the Year and committed to UIC has ended up at Delta State somehow.
Unfortunately with baseball never really hear much about recruiting or things like that so can’t say why.

Today's game was on the UTGRV YouTube page. Missed the first inning or so when they scored 10 runs! Tomorrow's game might be on there as well.

I did actually see that right before the game started. I think Friday was the only one on WAC TV.
The YouTube setup is kind of nice. Can’t get the pitch count which is annoying. But it was easily accessible. Plus I have the ability to watch it in TV I like ESPN3 that I need to watch on my computer.

Took 2/3 that series. Defense was not our friend. I know they had a 6 run inning today with none of those runs being earned.
UTRGV was receiving votes in the poll last week but they weee also preseason 8th in the WAC so not sure how to perceive them.
