Well, UIC is now 0-3 in the MVC with an absolute must-win coming in this Saturday as we host Valpo.
The story is the same - we have an offense that is inconsistent, we have silly turnovers, bad free throws, a defense that is not where it should be this far in to the tenure for Yak, and absolutely no interest in the team by Chicago or anyone on campus.
And nothing seems to be changing.
We had a good start to the season but that is all for naught now after going 0-3 in conference and cannot forget losses to powerhouses Green Bay and Incarnate Word (both at home in front of a possible combined 200 fans).
And let's not forget this -
Jace Carter transferred. Okay, maybe that isn't UIC and Yak's fault. I mean, he had a major offer and took it. He's ultra athletic and had a good season. Granted, he's struggling a little this year averaging 7 PPG and just under 5 RPP in about 20 minutes per game.
But what still doesn't sit well with me - Jalen Jackson transferring. Maybe it is out of our control or not. I have no idea. But to let him get away, a Freshman guard that had a great future. And this year, he is helping lead a 13-2 IPFW team averaging 14.5 PPG and 4 RPG while also shooting 41% from 3-point and 52% from the field. He would look great on this team.
And what does the future look like? Okani, Sko, and Rivera can all be gone next year. Jones and Clay have shown promise but Clay especially is so game to game on his PT. Fens we were all excited about but he doesn't get on the floor. We have 1 recruit for next year that looks good but a) who else? and b) what if he seeks what's going on and leaves?
So in summation - things are bad right now and don't look great for the future.
See you on Saturday. If you watch, will be easy to point me out as I'm expecting a crowd of 250 with 80% being Valpo fans.
