The MVC had their awards banquet this evening.
Between the 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams, All Newcomer Team, and Freshman Team, all but one school was represented.
UIC won placed nobody on any team. Not a single player.
Valpo, the only team worse than us, has the Freshman of the Year. Illinois State has a first team on Frosh and newcomer. Evansville represented. Everyone but UIC…

Okani was selected to the All-Defensive team.
I wonder where they had CJ for most improved or if he was even considered.

My bad. I did see the All Defensive team come out later and he made it.
Still, not great for this year or great feeling on the future.

How can we have any newcomers of the year when Yak doesn't play the freshman? Jones should of been considered for most improved he was damn good.

Okani’s award was deserved, and that’s all we deserved. Jace Carter was 2nd team last year. He’s now averaging a career low in every statistical category with TAMU. I’m actually surprised he’s averaging 7.2 points because every time I see him on TV, his teammates basically ignore him on offense. Guess I’m not tuning in long enough.

Before the start of the season I told myself I would watch him play at TAMU but most of their games are not on ESPN Plus or public TV so I have only seen some highlights. With that said its hard to compare Carters stats from last year. Last year he averaged 35mins per game with a 25% usage rate. He was basically the guy on the team. This year Carter is getting 25 mins per game with a 16% usage rate. On this team he isnt asked to be the guy, he often is coming of the bench. His stats this year mirror those of his freshmen year. We'll see how he does next year and if he could possibly become a full time starter. I hope he does.
