Dont know how many of you got this news letter so ill post it here.
Dear Flames Family,
I am writing to you regarding our decision to make a change in the leadership of our men’s basketball program. You can view the public announcement here.
After a thorough evaluation of the program, we have decided that Coach Yaklich will not return next season. We sincerely appreciate his efforts on behalf of the program over the past four years. He and his staff represent the program with distinction and support our student-athletes on and off the court. We wish them and their families every future success.
We are fully dedicating our efforts to a national search for our new head coach. We anticipate receiving strong interest from highly qualified candidates across the country, as you would expect.
As the future of UIC Basketball takes shape, your continued support is more essential than ever. The competitiveness of our program and opportunity to compete with the best in the Missouri Valley Conference and beyond is directly tied to our ability to recruit and retain highly talented student-athletes. Your participation in UIC’s NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) efforts through The Chicago Collective is the most direct way you can support our student-athletes and help return the Flames to national prominence. Please visit The Chicago Collective to support the Flames.
UIC Athletics remains committed to competing for Missouri Valley Conference championships, returning to postseason play, and building a program of national distinction. UIC is a prestigious academic institution, with tremendous athletics facilities, talented student-athletes, and a passionate alumni base 300,000-strong… all in the heart of one of the greatest cities in the world. It is the right formula for success.
Thank you, as always, for supporting UIC and Flames Athletics. We are proud to be Chicago’s College Team and look forward to ushering in a new era of UIC Basketball in the near future!
FIRE UP, FLAMES!
Sincerely,
Michael Lipitz
Director of Athletics
