For all those students at UIC take part it this survey over at www.UICFLAMES.com uicflames.cstv.com/ot/student-survey.htmlThey are really trying to help out the Fury, and by the looks of the questions they are going to advertise more, do some cross-promotions, pod-casts, etc. Really cool, i hope students really take advantage of the survey and provide their opinions. Its a good way to make UIC better. Let me know what you think, and Fury president (Fury JP) was your hand in this?

I actually don't have anything to do with the actual survey. It was put together by the FURY's faculty advisor, who works for UIC Athletics. I am hoping, however, that it helps us with ideas for next year (i.e. possibly charging for Fury memberships). I'll let you know how it turns out.

I think the survey is a great idea, but shouldn't they also have alumni surveys? I mean, don't they want to know what we feel should be improved?
As far as charging for Fury membership, it could be good and bad. The bad would be discouraging people from joining....and the Fury needs as many people as possible. The good might be that those that do pay are more likely to participate....if they're going to pay to be a member, then they will probably take it more seriously and act like members.
Honestly, I think it's just too early to consider charging for membership...maybe down the road when the Fury is an established and strong organization...but they had good turnouts for a few home games in one season....let's try to improve that first....

I think paying is a completely ludicrous idea, now...in the future, and forever.
If the program gets big somehow and people love it, then you charge for tickets, not for Fury membership.

Charging $5 for membership and a T-shirt could help keep out those who abuse privileges such as free Pizza after games. This is only supposed to be for Fury members wearing their shirts, and on many occasions the area and pizza are taken by those without t-shirts. As a student and Fury member I think it rewards those who participate and attend games frequently, as opposed to those who come every so often, don't wear their shirts and don't really get into the game.

As far as the paying goes, I agree. I think that the Fury has made big strides lately but I think that paying will kill it all. Just me, I don't know anything on the inside though.
Promoting UIC sports is a killer job. Somehow, students just don't seem to really care. It's honestly mind boggling. However, it is growing, and I think if more and more people get into it, then the rest will follow. Quite frankly, that's what it comes to.

Who cares if others get free pizza? I mean, it bugs me as much as you; it really does, but the goal is butts in the seats. Pizza is a pretty minor cost for the University of Illinois at Chicago.
As for the idea of it being mind boggling, I don't think it is at all. I think most college teams get little support, we just all watch too much ESPN and pretend that everyone has Duke's attendance. By FAR, the majority of team have spotty support, and what reason do we have to deserve better support? It's not winning. It's not tradition. It's not a spectacular arena. It's not big name opponents. It's not the only show in town.

UICJason I think you should quit your job and take over somones position in the Athletic Department, since you seem to know everything!

In all fairness, UICJason has offered his help on numerous occasions.
In regards to having a payment, it's an awful idea. Whoever brought this is up hasn't thought. If people are only going for the FREE pizza, then what does that tell you - that they DONT WANT TO SPEND MONEY, so they're definately not going to pay a fee. We need any fans we can get.

UICJason I think you should quit your job and take over somones position in the Athletic Department, since you seem to know everything! Uhhh, okay. There's nothing in my post that isn't true. I'm not, however, saying this in a negative way, but in a realistic way that points to the hurdles we have to overcome as a 20 year old team in a giant market with little history. I don't think there's anything anyone could do to turn it around in a heartbeat, but there are certainly things that could be done better.

Well, I would say that with the number of students we have in our school and with success we have had in past years, the fact we can't get more fans (students in particular) is hard to explain.
