What do you think of the HL logos? Here's my take.
Butler - The bulldog looks way too generic. Is it clip art?
CSU - An alien that thinks he's a viking?
Detroit - Simple, but very cool looking logo. I like it.
Loyola - The wolf and the Ramblers. Don't get the connection. I understand they "ramble" from place to place to compete...or else just ramble on about championships from the days when JFK was President.
UWM - I like the logo, kind of cool. HOWEVER, there must like 5000 high schools across the country that have something very similar. Take the logo smack on a High School's name and voila...a new shirt for gym class.
UIC - Not bad. I won't be a mark here and go nuts for it. I still don't like the Flames name that much. It would be cooler if they used the dragon logo, kind of what the UAB Blazers do.
UWGB - Phoenix. This is almost all you can do. Phoenix = Firebird. Just make it less green. Maybe put Burt Reynolds in the logo too.
Raiders - I like the name. "For many years, Wright States sports teams used a character called Rowdy Raider as their mascot; a red-bearded Viking with a horned helmet. Recently, the university, seeking a non-gender-specific mascot, adopted a wolf as its mascot." They should have sticked w/ the Viking...would have made more sense. A wolf? What's w/ the f'n wolves in this league?!?
YSU - The po'd penguin. Different. Cute for a kids soccer team. Burn, baby burn! lol.

- There are a lot of Bulldog teams, but this is simple and to the point. I like it. (7/10) - Another pretty good logo despite the alien Viking. (7/10) - What in the hell is the point of this? Clearly, they had a contest for 1st-graders to design a logo. I think this is the worst logo in the HL. (3/10) - How can I not sound biased here? I like this logo a lot...well-designed, colorful, uses "UIC" and not "University of Illinois-Chicago"...to me a logo should be simple, and this is another simple one. When you look at all the HL logos as a whole, this is the one that jumps out at you. I would like to see what they could do with a dragon though....we can have more than one logo, can't we? (9/10) *The Fury logo, on the other hand, couldn't be worse. (2/10) - Not a huge fan of the colors and I would take the "University Chicago" out...but not bad. (6/10) - 2nd worst logo in the league. How'd you like to buy gear with this logo all over it....I assume that UWGB sells less merchandise than every team in the HL not named Detroit. Creativity people! (4.5/10) - Much like Bulldogs, Panthers is also a far too common name. But the logo isn't that bad (the actual mascot is a different story). I'd probably think about taking out the "University of Wisconsin." (7.5/10) - I prefer the old logo better...but the look of this new one is not too bad. (6.5/10) - Yes sir...I like this one. Really not much more I can say. (8.5/10)

You guys got me thinking about our uniform colors. Why not incorporate some yellow in ours , make it a bit "hotter" ?

You guys got me thinking about our uniform colors. Why not incorporate some yellow in ours , make it a bit "hotter" ? You have got to be kidding! Using the alternate black unis is bad enough. Don't even put that "yellow" thought into the consciousness of anyone who has a say in the athletic department. As for the HL logos, I too am biased and like the Flames logo with the Ramblers and Penguins logos coming in second and third respectively.

I don't like logos where the name is the mian focus or where the picture is the main focus. You look at Detroit's and it seems like all you see is the name. And then teams like UWGB and YSU are hard to read the name.
I still like the UIC Flames the best, biased perhaps. I will not be biased when I say that most of the shirts and stuff that are sold I do not like. Yes, this has been discussed on here before, but I wish they'd put out more stuff with THAT UIC logo on it.

Here's my take on these logos:
Butler - I like the bulldog, but I don't like the letters.
CSU - Same here, but reversed. The letters are good, but what is that creature supposed to be?
Detroit - Very confusing. If you don't know who this team is, you wouldn't know who they are. They want to be called Detroit, but keep the UDM thing. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt...
UIC - I like the concept here. I don't like the dragon as much, though.
Loyola - Nice for a school seal, but not as nice for an athletics logo.
UWGB - The one used more often for UWGB is just the bird without the letters around it, and it is just one solid color. I like that one, but it could be considered too simple, especially for someone who looks at it and has no idea who the school is. Still, I really like the simplicity of it, and it's my favorite (mainly because it's my school...I'm allowed to be biased once in a while).
UWM - I agree with other people here. Can you say, "high school logo"? This logo just has nothing to contribute. 2nd worst logo in the HL, just ahead of Detroit.
Wright State - I like the concept here. Lose the circle behind the wolf, and make it actually look more like a wolf. That would make a winning logo.
Youngstown State - First of all, they have the 2nd coolest mascot in the Horizon League (just behind the Phoenix). I like their picture of the penguin a lot, and prefer their logo that just has a penguin. Whoever designed that is a genius. Too bad their teams can't be as cool.

Yawn. Those of you who said UWM's logo sucked basically have penis envy for the last couple years. Let's try and keep this an objective analysis.
Butler - The Butler Bulldog, the mascot, is a jersey change away from being the Georgia Bulldog. Besides the fact that the mascot has two big fur piercings on each side of its lips(no joke, try it yourself at your next Butler game), the Bulldog is old and haggard. It looks more annoyed than angry. The Blue and White colors make me want to fall asleep, it's so common, and their uniforms inspire an urge for color-blindness, to see if you could make the jerseys any more bland.
CSU - No one mentioned the fact that Cleveland State is apparently endorsed by 7-UP, since Spot from early nineties 7-UP advertising is the mascot. Would go from worst to first in HL if you add a Fu Manchu to the giant green period. I like Cleveland State's uniforms; the green trim on the home jerseys make CSU unique among the HL.
Detroit - How many times can someone say that Panthers and Bulldogs are too common, yet forget that UDM's Titan is the little brother of Michigan State's steroid-riddled mascot? The logo is simple, but ancient Greek drawings of Titans could have been incorporated instead of a Greek warrior. Some old titan drawings are badass. Their red away uniforms are butt-ugly, and their home jerseys have way too many god damn stripes on the trim. Their combination of red, white, and blue begs people to run for cover from the ugliness.
UIC - While Flames is a more original name than most in the HL, and the logo isn't going to make anyone think "Damn, that sucks," the problem is that it's way too damn easy for unoriginal students from other schools to tack on an R and call the team Flamers. I hated it at both UWM-UIC games when some drunkass UWM student would yell flamers, it's almost as bad as yelling random swears. I can't imagine how annoying it is for Flames fans to hear it from every opposing team's fans. The red, white, and blue combination is the only thing truly common about UIC; tons of schools have that color combo. Unlike UDM, however, UIC actually looks f@#!ing coherent; it looks damn good, in my opinion, the best uniforms of all Illinois' basketball teams, including the ugly ass orange/blue Illini and the red/white/black of the Bulls. The UIC font on the jerseys, also, is a badass fit for the Flames.
Loyola - The logo would be a terrible school seal; almost as bad as UWM's actual school seal. The giant tiny-eyed dog looks like it's about to go pedophile and rape something with it's furrowed brows and knowing smile. I know this is a UIC board, and any compliments towards Loyola will be slapped down and frowned upon, I really like their gold unis. The sleeveless T jerseys work with the black and maroon trim. However, gold and maroon is another overused color combo.
UWGB - Don't talk s@#! about the bird. Green Bay has a lot of bad things; their color schemes look too much like the old Milwaukee Bucks, their green color seems truly bland and light to be cool, and their team is generally hated by everyone. However, the simplicity and finesse of the logo is fantastic; no other team in the HL pulls of a single colored logo so well; Butler's logo blows. Also, while their color scheme brings yuletide thoughts to mind, the trim on their uniforms is truly original, and the placement of the logo at the base of the trim on the shorts is impeccable. Another thing to point out is the cool diamond trim design home shorts.
UWM - Say what you want, but if you stand similar looking players from each team in the Horizon League next to each other, Milwaukee's Panther stands out. Yes, Victor E. Panther needs a makeover; it looks like a god damn character from Chuck E. Cheese, maybe sharing a middle name. But the logo is solid; either stand alone in its oval, or with Milwaukee above it and Panthers below it, the menacing Panther is unique from other Panthers. I can't think of any other Panthers outside of Northern Iowa, whose logo is stupid and color scheme sucks, and Prairie View A&M, which, well, is Prairie View A&M. Pittsburgh is far away, and their colors are terrible. ANYWAYS, I don't know what you are talking about when you say high school logo; the logo is waaaaaay too involved to be a high school logo. UDM and Butler are the only logos that could be confused with high school logos. As far as uniforms go, the black and gold color combo is pulled off better than NO team in division one. Very few teams have the scheme, and none have the cool font that MILWAUKEE does on the front of jerseys. I'm doing this objectively, too. Serious.
Wright State - Raiders? Looks like a dog to me. But the red circle behind the wolf is the war moon, GBfan. That's probably the most understated piece of badass on the logo. The head looks so big compared to the body. The color scheme could be better, but the uniforms are very good. Much like Arizona, but that is so far away no one cares, and absolutely unique uniforms are 1 in a million in sports. I love the 2 bar design on the unis. The jerseys themselves might be better if they were bigger shoulders, that seems the way to go with new uniforms, but it's very good, if not great while not grabbing attention.
Youngstown State - Worst team, best logo. You have to be kidding me if you think the Penguin isn't the best mascot AND logo in the Horizon League. Probably best used as a hockey mascot, it has a certain timeless charm, just like the Wisconsin Badger's turtleneck sweater. The red trim on the uniforms kick major ass, and the Youngstown State name looks pretty damn cool across the front. And GBFan, not all their sports suck. Unlike both of our schools, they have a school-associated football team that won its conference last season in Division I-AA.
Horizon League - As a whole, they are very unique from each other. Yes, green meets green when UWGB and CSU face off, and patriotism runs rampant every UIC-UDM game, but for the most part, the Horizon League's uniforms, logos, and mascots hold their own. Except for Vic Panther. We need him to trash his current body and get a new one. I mean damn.

Very nice and, I thought, objective uwmbballwriter. You made some very nice points. Once one stops to really think about the teams and their logos, I don't really think you'll have that many really disagreeing.

Butler - nothing great but not bad. the fact it is so simple is what can make it stand throughout time w/out having to continuously modify to keep up w/ the times. mascot has got to change and the head is 100x too big. CSU - i actually like the alien. its bizarre and doesn't make much sense but there's some part of me that enjoys the hell out of it. i'd consider changing the text around it but you gotta keep the alien. the only modification that i'd like w/ the alien is the paper bag over its head as the CSU poster on LU's board has. that's just funny. Detroit - too much text and not enough helmet. they need to have a greater emphasis on that and get the "M" out of there. "Detroit Titans" sounds much better than "Detroit-Mercy Titans". mascot is nothing more than a poor man's Sparty and is smiling gray teeth just looks stupid. Loyola - hate this logo, looks like it belongs in a Cub Scout group. not a fan of the nickname although i understand the concept of it. i agree w/ D that "U of Chicago" has gotta go. also not a real fan of the black in the logo. UWM - i know its not the most original nickname but its still not bad. i like the logo better than Pitt's and MUCH more than Birmingham-Southern's. the mascot definitely needs a change and if i heard correctly awhile back, he'll be getting one for this year. i like our logo more when the pic is by itself and not w/ any text. UIC - i like it b/c its original but couldn't have thought of a better one? Flames? too easy for opposing fans to make fun of it. the designs is cool but i'd like to see a dragon logo to see if its worth changing. mascot is horrible, people bash Victor E. but Puff the Magic Dragon's retarded cousin sure ain't a step up. UWGB - the logo itself works but Phoenix is still stupid and the mascot resembles more of an eagle. i call them the fighting X-men character. jerseys are terrible, could "Green Bay" be written in any smaller font? colors are just a rip-off of the old Bucks jerseys. WSU - Raiders is fine but they gotta have a Viking for their mascot/logo. who the hell thinks of a dog/wolf when they think "raiders"? hopefully Brownell can get some new jerseys too. YSU - shoo bee doo bee doo, beware of the Penguins! Bud Ice needs to sponsor their athletic program .
