Wow....that's really cool. What exactly is CBS doing and why do they need UIC fans to come down? Did they find out about the Fury through the Sun-Times article, or did someone from the Fury contact CBS to try and get some exposure?
Either way, I really hope that more than 10 people show up. A good showing could bring more media attention down the road.

from what i got out of the email i don't think they found out about the fury through the sun-times article but im not completely sure. it did mention that CBS contacted other chicago schools too asking for them to bring out their student groups so hopefully we can get a solid amount to go and show the others up.
as for why they want us to come out or what they are planning...i have no clue. i guess we'll see when we get there.

Are all the Fury faithful being contacted? Since they 2000 signees, it would be just awesome to have at least half show up!

haha yeah 1000 would be just crazy. To answer your question, yes. We have everyone in a data base that we send an email to. ALSO, we've sent out Facebook messages and put up signs in the resident halls. No matter what we do though, it's 5am! But we'll have some fury members taking the early trip though.

So, what ended up happening? How was the turnout? Were you guys on TV?

Bid D,
We had a good 20+ Fury members there. We definetely had the largest student turnout. Loyola and Robert Morris were there also, but only about 10 each. Actually Loyola had their mascot there, that's about it. We had chests painted, banners, signs, fury shirts, and wigs. Our presence was made on National and Local tv. It was a lot of fun. We gave the weather man a Fury shirt. Good times, and good press.
We may be working on getting some clips from the show in the Flames website.

So basically the request for the Fury to show up was just to generate noise and have people on location when they did this report? Dont get me wrong I am sure people noticed UIC and the Fury's presence, and PR is PR. But it just seems odd that this is how CBS generates people to show up at live broadcasts. There was nothing to do with the local universities or basketball or anything right? Just some guy winning a trip to Munich (lucky b@stard). Any publicity is good publicity, so good job guys. Hopefully some more stuff like this will present future opportunities for the Fury.

Maybe the university thing was because college kids drink a lot of beer.
