So, who's going tomorrow night? This is it...basketball season is finally here. Hopefully, it's a good one...
Can someone report on how it turns out?

So how was basketball madness? How was the turnout? Any surprises? Anything different from last year?

Was there even a midnight madness event this year? Don't remember seeing any advance info on one at all. My daughter grad from Marquette and went to theirs in Milwaukee. Had about 5,000 people for all kinds of hoop-la and events, big time... Went to UIC's the year before, was OK, not a great turn out. I think the events need much more publicity on and off campus to build a following. Lots of Chicago alumni go to Milwaukee for Marquette's events, lots of Chicago alumni of UIC aren't even aware of the events if the WANTED to go here!! Takes some PR and effort by the athletic dept and university to reach out....... Thoughts? ?

axaguy, we used to have midnight madness but the turnout was fairly weak. This past year, UIC introduced "Melafusic" (uic flames jumbled), a week-long series of events that preceded our home opener. You can read about it here... uicflames.cstv.com/ot/melafusic.htmlI thought it was a good idea. Not sure how successful it was but it's original and it couldn't be any worse than midnight madness. I think this is a new tradition, with it preceding our opener against Depaul (supposedly) next year...
