...but I think the Cubs are going to choke and miss the playoffs...anyone else agree? Swept by Florida? By Florida?!?
Mark this down as another colossal collapse...
There still might be a chance that they make it though. But that would require me to put money on the Cubs not making it....

I've been saying all year that it does not matter if the Cubs make the playoffs or not because they will lose in the first round.
They don't have the pitching, plain and simple. The Bartman three team had Wood, Prior and Zambrano, three fireballers capable of throwing 95+ mph. What does the 2007 team have? Zambrano and Lilly, neither of which is anywhere close to Prior or Wood of those days.
It is really unfortuntate that they didn't get rid of Jim Hendry when they got rid of the rest of the dead weight at the end of last season. The team he put together this year is not going to win any championships, and they should be getting rid of the whole crew, starting with Derrick Lee, who has hit a whopping 21 home runs this season.
How Jim Hendry can screw up year after year and not get canned is beyond me. He has to be the worst general manager in baseball.

I think we have as good a shot as anyone in the NL. Detroit and St. Louis got to the Series last year, and neither team was playing well at the end of the year, Detroit got swept by the Royals to end the season. I was most afraid of the Mets, cause of their big names and veterans, but now they look like they're toast. Assuming we play Arizona, hopefully we can get to Brandon Webb in game 1, if we do that we can take the first series and look to the NLCS...

I agree that there is no dominant team in the NL right now, and after watching Zambrano mow down the Reds last night the bandwagon looks tempting, but I just don't see the Cubs pitching staff as championship material.
Hopefully, I am completely wrong and the Cubs will make it to the World Series
