why is chicago media so ignorant? if you go to chicagosports.chicagotribune.com and click on College on the left side menu, the only teams you see are Illinois, DePaul, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, and Notre Dame!! where is UIC? Why does NIU deserve to be up there and not UIC? frustrations, frustrations....but i would rather blame ourselves before blaming the media...losses to teams like Bowling Green and Parkside are disgraceful. sorry for dwelling in the past, but it's such a major blow to our program and I don't know if we'll ever recover from it until we win a game in the NCAAs. even if this happens, i still dont know if we will get some media attention with Illinois set to take a national championship this year and DePaul being in a major conference and going to an even bigger conference next year...   |

The Daily Herald had it the same way until I fought with them before the season via email. They now have UIC and Loyola links on their website. I'm sure you could email the Trib and if they don't laugh at you because of the teams we've lost to, they would probably add a link. But, I thought that I emailed them before and they said they wouldn't add it because they didn't have a beat reporter for UIC.....whatever that means (I guess they don't have some specific reporter for us)....maybe I'm thinking of something else though.

That's crazy. It wouldn't take too much to do some news on UIC basketball. If ESPN is occassionally showing some clips, then a chicago paper should be able to keep us half way updated, at least until UIC gets better and takes over the city.

Hey guys....This is my first time posting. I'm a UIC grad....Class of 96. I'm a huge fan and have been since I went when we had Sherell Ford and Kenny Williams, but I'm so frustrated right now. We have had great seasons the last 3 years....and then we lose to Wisconsin-Parkside. I still cannot believe it. My friends know that I'm a die-hard UIC fan and now they tell me I shouldnt even bother supporting them after losing to a D2 team. I wont stop supporting them, but its frustrating because we have always had a hard time getting respect from the media.....even though we've won 65 games the last 3 seasons. Well, I'm gonna keep spreading the word about supporting the Flames.....just wish the media would.

Yes, I emailed the trib last year and got no response. I don't understand the comment about not having someone cover UIC, Mike at Woosh actually works for the Trib.

And you know what the sad thing is, I think this UIC team has more talent than at least the last five years. We might as well forfeit the rest of the season and wait for the HL tournament. The rest of the games mean NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Lets say we win them all, we get nothing, we lose them all, we obviously get nothing... f@#! it.. the only game im going to go to the rest of the year is maybe the butler game.. besides that im not going to be a tool.... UICjason thinks we should just follow along like sheep, not me, im not going to follow a team that doesnt put in as much effort as I (the fans) do.... |

Anyone see how ISU is receiving votes for the Midmajor top 25??? quite interesting... just bringing this up because this is embarrasing considering how much talent this UIC team has and the record they have....

ISU received votes? Yikes. But that goes to show how polls work. They have a pretty impressive record overall, but that doesn't mean too much. Off of the top of my head, I don't think they beat anyone too special. Hell, if we beat GT in the first game and then have our record just the same after that game, I think we'd still be off of i t.
