UIC beats #5 Vanderbilt 2-1! Great game! Grant Kohlstead pitched his butt off. We were down 1-0 through 8 and came back and scored 2 in the top of the ninth. What a great win and shot in the arm for this young team! Coach Dee is one hell of a coach! Anyway, this is a 4 game series and this was game one. It would be nice to see us take at least one more game in this series!
Congrats Flames!

Excellent! And this is in our rebuilding year! We beat #5 Vanderbilt. We go toe to toe with #18 Baylor. I was just hoping to see some continued improvement but this is MUCH more than I would have expected!

I don't know if any of you are watching but UIC is up 2-0 in the bottm of the seventh. Derek Miramontes is pitching one hell of a game! It is sleeting right now during the game. Hopefully our Flames can hold on.

UIC takes a 4-1 lead into the 9th and blows it. A relief pitcher needed to get 2 outs in a snow storm and couldn't do it. You don't get too many chances like that so it's a shame to let it get away.

Actually, I think that Worthington only needed to get 1 out. Either way, I'm feeling bad for Derek Miramontes. Back to back great outings against two ranked teams and nothing to show for it!

Hey John, Im sorry, I may have been mistaken. He may have only needed one out which makes it even worse. Either way, our boys have played well. Hopefully they can take another one in this series!

Overall, that game hurts. We were up, we should have won, and we didn't. But looking at it in perspective, that we beat a top 10 team Thursday and hung with them until the last pitch today, and this is in our "rebuilding" year. I would say that looking at preseason play, we are back as the favorites in this conference.
