Just stopped into the bookstore and saw that they have home Soccer jerseys for sale! Pretty basic white jersey with red "UIC" on the middle chest, and red #26 on the front. Black Adidas logo on the upper right chest, and three white stripes down each sleeve. It's short sleeve.
It's going for $22.50 I think, and I'll be purchasing one very soon.
Good job Bookstore!

I have seen some of those at the soccer games. Good looking jersey. Not really sure what the #26 is all about (anybody know?). But that's a pretty reasonable price, that's for sure.

From the sound of this thread and another thread where the scarves were talked about, people are pretty happy with the new merchandise. I do have one wish though, and that is that the Bookstore would change its hours a little bit or add hours on a Saturday. It's really hard when you are working during the day to make it to the bookstore before 5. I think on Mondays it is listed as being open until 6, but it still makes it a little difficult to make it. My only option would be to get up at the crack of dawn to go there before work. It would also help if they added more merchandise to the Bookstore website. There weren't a whole lot of options on it when I checked about a week ago. This would be beneficial to the out-of-towners as well. If I'm missing something somewhere that has better stuff (besides the athletics website), please let me know, guys. If anyone in the know is reading this, are there going to be extended hours around the holidays? I would really like one of those scarves.

I'm not sure about extended hours, but I can say that I also think the website sucks.

While I doubt it, I'm hoping I'm looking at the incorrect UIC bookstore website right now, which only has a UIC alumni mug, a sparky stuffed animal, UIC plush letters, and 1 hat on sale....that's it...no t-shirts, no sweatshirts, no jackets...hell, even if I wanted the hat, I can't even see what it looks like on the website because the picture doesn't come up....
It's stuff like this, and the new uicflames.com website, that make UIC look like a third-world university. An online bookstore is a no-brainer! Couldn't it only get more people into UIC gear if they actually sold stuff online?
Of course, this is the same bookstore that put Illini gear out a while back for football (if I remember, right). So, maybe it's all a conspiracy to keep UIC gear out of public eye...
I'd love to buy an occasional thing from the bookstore....but they close the doors when I'm usually in town (over Xmas break). Oh well, I guess the bookstore doesn't mind losing out on money...

A short email I wrote to latoyasm@vcsa.uic.edu: --------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello.
I have been a student at UIC now going on my 5th year, and will continue my Master's program here. I have always been excited to sport UIC gear, and support the Flames wherever I go. I would like to say thanks for selling the new UIC Soccer jersey! It is a great item, and it's encouraging to see such an item considering how great our team is doing.
I would, however, like to know if anything will be done about the website. Over the years, I have been quite disappointed in the amount of merchandise available to purchase on the site. I feel that if the site was updated with the great products available in the bookstore at SCE and SCW, more students and alumni would be able to show their UIC colors.
I hope the website is able to catch up with 2008, and continue to promote UIC as well as the actual store.
Thank you.

Does anyone have pictures? I'd like to take them and shove them in our bookstore manager's face.

I went today and I can't find anymore! In fact, I don't remember seeing anymore last week. Either they sold out or for some odd reason they were pulled from the store. They had a good amount the first day I saw them. Hmmm.

They had a good amount the first day I saw them. Hmmm. Did you ask if they were sold out and when they would get more? They were selling them at the Loyola game last Sunday. I asked what the number 26 was all about. They didn't know and said it was some kind of screwup. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they got rid of the number, and I told them so. Hopefully they'll see the wisdom of offering it without the number in the future.

I never got a response to my email. However, the bookstore DOES have the jerseys in stock. I stopped by this morning and asked about them. Why they have them tucked away in boxes? I do not know. But I purchased one for $22.50, and told the lady they should put them back out because people want to buy them. She said they planned on it.
I don't really mind the #26, I assume it's one of a few numbers that isn't assigned to an actual player.

Just got a response: --------------------------------------- Hello John-Paul,
The Bookstore understands your disappointment and actually agree with you that is a hindrance to our dedicated UIC fans. We have been working diligence to get the site up and running. We have switched providers and hope that in the near future we will be up and running. Especially before the holiday and commencement. In the mean time feel free to call or email me with items that you may be interested in and my team will try their best to describe what we have in stock. We are also open a hand full of Saturday in the next couple of weeks that you may be able to take advantage of such as Saturday November 15 from 8:30 am- 2:00 pm. We also will be selling at the basketball games starting on the 19th.
Sincerely,
LaToya Spann-Martin, M.S. Assistant Director of Retail Operations The UIC Bookstore (MC 120) 750 South Halsted Street Chicago, IL 60607 312-413-5511 312-996-0132 latoyasm@uic.edu
