The Fury got a warning from the ref about tauting Westly on CSU ("Westly sucks").
Is there a new rule against taunting the opposition ?
Where were the refs when we played UWM and their fans were taunting Marcettus McGee ?

Honestly, I don't know about any specific rules, but how is it that The Fury get yelled at for probably their first chant ever, and a mild and fairly typical one at that?
If I were The Fury, I'd keep on chanting...I mean, this is college basketball, and while I think chants like "rapist" go overboard, what are we supposed to do....chant "let's go team" for the rest of our lives? I think the HL commish may need to be contacted and asked why some teams are allowed to get away with some things (on the road for that matter) while us, as a home team, can't chant without being warned.
Then again, maybe it's a UIC thing.....I mean, they did attempt to put the stomp to rest....

It does seem a little overboard for a warning on something like that, but I do recall being warned at UWM (@ home) one time a couple years ago at the Klotsche. The refs stopped the came to take care of the issue, but I don't recall the specific chant.
Maybe the word "suck" has become increasingly vulgar over the years though, as I do recall having to modify signs we've made that said something with the word "Sucks." Did anyone notice if the CSU coach complained first? Otherwise, worry about what happens on the floor, HL refs have a hard enough time keeping up with that!

I agree. Warning th students along with the stomp incident earlier in the year are some of the most bizzarre things I have heard. It's a well known fact that all Horizon League teams have a hard time getting fans to their games. Now that we're getting more fans to the games and we are all getting more into the games, they want it to stop? I don't remember the stomp incident, but one woman wanted it to be stopped? Give me a break. I go to the game and I want it to get loud. You're going to any sporting event and getting the fans into the game is a good thing. And "Westley sucks" is vulgur? Come on. I have not attended many other games but who hasn't heard the "a$$hole" or "Bulls@#!" chants. Give me a break refs.

I also am shocked to hear that they are trying to stop the students from chanting what they want. But if you read the Loyol site I think they also had a run in after their chanting on monday. When we were told to stop the stomp we were also told that the league wanted to stop any possible Indian/Detroit things from happening in the HL. But I dought chanting bull s@#! and what have you would really start up a fight. Also I was told that the coaches of the HL want to remove the fans behind the bench because we have been harasing them in the past. So we were also told to stop yelling at the coaches/players or we would have to be moved from our seats.

Give me a break. I thought the goal of the Horizon League is to grow as a league and become one of the top midmajors in the land. In doing so, should we not look at how things are in the major conferences? Are they going to move the seats back at Duke because the coaches and opposing players feelings are hurt? I am sorry, this is just pissing me off because we're finally building a fan base, getting people at the game and making noise, and now all of this opposition?

We got our warning not from the freaking University Police at the UWM vs. Detroit game earlier this month. The US Cell security didn't care, but the rent-a-cops sure did. And the chants were aimed at the officials, not the other players due to the fact that we had 7 fouls and detroit had yet to be called for one with just more than 6 minutes remaining in the first half at home no less.
