Some guy came to my door in Elmhurst and said he was a member of the UIC Baseball team and they were selling raffle tickets to help pay for the team to travel to Australia this summer. He looked like he could be a ballplayer, but he had a hiking backpack that was "stuffed" on his back.
After I told him that I wasn't interested I went straight to the computer to follow my "gut" instinct that said: "If this guy is on the team shouldn't he be playing a game today" My gut was right...... UIC at UWM today!
Does anyone who is close to the baseball team know about a trip to Australia? Once of my nice Elmhurst neighbors probably called the cops!

That is crazy! To my knowledge, UIC never sends student athletes door to door for fundraising purposes. I would say that is probably reserved for little leagues. I read on the Butler board that they also had a problem with men claiming to be on the Butler baseball team and soliciting funds.
The UIC squad was busy playing a double header yesterday so it was no way it was any of them. You should really call the police and report the incident. I can just see some old lady giving this kid money thinking that she is really helping out the baseball team. It seems that scams like this always target the elderly foe easy prey.
