Nice 3-game sweep over Cleveland State to open the conference season. We outscored them 41-9 in the 3 games.
In the first 10 games against top competition, we averaged 2.4 runs per game and won one game.
Since then, we have won 5 of 8 games, including 5 of the last 6, and are averaging 8.4 runs per game.
I guess the disparity between power conferences and mid-majors is just as great in baseball as it is in basketball, maybe even more so.
Anyway, congrats on the fast start in conference play and hopefully we can continue our streak of Horizon League championships.
Go Flames.

I think it's really a big disparity in baseball between warm weather teams and cold weather teams. It's obvious that warm weather teams have an advantage and especially when it comes to hitting. Being able to see live pitching and playing on your field really is a big difference between batting cages and even live pitching inside as cold weather teams have to go through.
Of course, that is not the only difference. The warm weather teams and especially warm weather in power conferences get most of the best players. Cleveland State is also not really a power in the Horizon League either so that plays into it. However, UIC is still a quality program and that shows when they go to regionals and are competetive and win a game or two. One of these years, hopefully we can win a regional!
