I'm watching the game today against Milwaukee. The announcer said that two of our players have been hospitalized with flu like symptoms. I believe he stated Ganek and Harwell. Coach Dee was at the hospital with the guys until very close to game time. Here's to hoping that our boys are not seriouly ill and make a speedy recovery.

Just an update on the game. UIC is leading 17-2 in the bottom of the 6th. John Rosinski is 5-5 with 6 rbi. He just can't miss! Anyway, since we lost yesterday to WSU, looks like UIC will have to beats the Raiders this afternoon as well as tomorrow. Hopefully these bats stay hot and the Flames keep rollin!

The Flames blank WSU 4-0 to advance to a winner take all championship game! Mike Kool pitched brilliantly! This WSU team can really, I mean, really hit and he went out there and blanked them. That is no easy task.
I just have to say how impressed I am with the mental makeup and composure of this team. These guys are playing without 4 usual starters and played wonderfully. Win or lose tomorrow, these guys are all winners in my book. They had every excuse in the world to just fold and they have refused. I expect tomorrow's game is going to be a dog fight. I can't wait to watch.

The Flames are coming to the plate in the bottom of the 6th. The score is still 0-0. Kovacevich is pitching a great game for UIC as is Kaminsky for WSU. Looks like this one is going down to the wire! Let's go Flames!

Apparently Coach Dee has now left the ballpark with flu like symptoms. Jake Carr is also not playing today due to the flu! This team is showing so much grit and fight. Truly amazing! I hope that everybody gets well soon.

Anyway, UIC lost 6-2...
Congrats to our boys anyawy. I am very impressed with the way these guys handled themselves in the midst of a flu outbreak and some injuries on top of it all. I don't think any UIC fan or alum could have asked for more. With 4 or 5 starters out and several other members feeling ill...along with the head coach? I am so impressed with the way these guys handled them selves. They came one out or basically one strike from going to their third regional. I'm not sure another team in the HL could have done the same thing. It shows the depth that UIC has and also how well these guys are coached.
I was all pumped to see these guys play in another renional. I was also ready to roll because I took the week off to do so. However, I couldn't be more proud of the way they handled all the bad cards that were dealt their way. I offer the best of luck to the graduating seniors and look forward to watching all the returning players next season!

Damn, what a tough way to end the season. No offense to Wright State, but it's unfortunate that the best team in the Horizon League didn't make it and it's even more unfortunate with the reasons why. It's a bad break but it happened.
It's been said the same the past few seasons I believe, but this team will have to reload in some positions again. Adam Worthington is the biggest loss so the pitching staff will have to step up which I can't say I'm too worried about. Time to reload and just come back and get them next year.
