Congratulations to the Baseball team for their 8th consecutive HL First Place finish, even though the overall record (29-23) was disappointing (based on expectations) as was the final result in the tournament.
Looking ahead to next year, it will be mighty tough to make it 9 straight. We lose 6 key players, including 3 or our top 4 hitters (and 4 of the top 6), as well as our top starting pitcher and our closer.
We do have some nice players coming back including key pitchers (Kovacevich, Heesh, and Salemi) and our top hitter, Ganek. Also, Orf came on strong as a Freshman as did Rosinski in the Tournament.
My concern is more with what Wright State has coming back. Their top starting pitcher and the best closer in the HL are two key returnees as well as some good young hitters.
Also, on the all-tournament team, of the 6 WSU players chosen, 4 will be coming back (or at least are eligible, if they don't get drafted by MLB).
It will be tough next year, but hopefully we can return the favor to WSU and win the tourney as a lower seed.
