Baseball season starts next week. We play in Cary, NC against Lemoyne and Canisius.
I see where UIC is picked for 2nd place this year (behind Wright State) by the league coaches. No surprise here since W.S. has most of their key players back from last year's tournament champions.
Looking at the schedule, I'm glad we downgraded the pre-conference schedule somewhat this year. Playing against mostly ranked teams to open the season is great for strength of schedule but starting off 0-11 like we have in the past few years can be bad for morale. There are plenty of warm weather teams that are closer to our level that we can play.

How many conference titles has UIC won in a row? Is it 9? Is this the first year that streak is legitimately in jeopardy? I know WSU has a decent team, and I really have no idea who we've brought in. In the past, I thought UIC released an article about the new recruits. I don't recall seeing one this year...did I miss it? Or is the class that bad that they don't want to advertise it?
Season starts Friday, so here's to a getting a few wins to start the season.

The recruiting information on the incoming Freshmen is on the team's website under News Releases. The stories are dated 11/13/08 and 3/30/09.
