Well, the Baseball team is off to a roaring start. Lost their first 3 games by scores of 13-7, 20-4, and 16-10. Nice pitching!!
I hate to see what happens when we start playing the good teams on our schedule.
First Soccer, then Basketball, and now Baseball. Not a good year to be a UIC fan.

The absolute worst part of it is this - in the past few years, we would open with an 0-3 start...against teams like Alabama, Texas, etc. This year we are starting our season against LeMoyne and Canisius. And the games aren't even close.
On a brighter note, the softball team is off to a good start. They're 4-5 but have played a tougher schedule with wins over teams such as NC State, SIU, and Indiana. In addition, all of their losses have been close minus a loss to a ranked Cal team. So trying to be optimistic about the Spring sports scene.

We did salvage one game out of the weekend, beating LeMoyne 8-4. Trying to find a silver lining in the weekend results: the blowouts gave some of the Freshman pitchers a chance to show their stuff. Some looked pretty good. Today's winning pitcher, Weinberg, is a Freshman. I don't know if he was originally going to start or if he started due to the mess created by the previous blowouts. Also, anybody have any connections to the Baseball team to find out why our starting catcher, Nathan Orf, didn't play all weekend? Injured? Academics? On the bright side, Freshman catcher Harry Kammholz got to play and got a couple of hits. By the way, a great site to get updated scores for all games is www.D1Baseball.com

What about pitcher Michael Heesch? I saw that he came in for relief in a game, but this guy came to UIC after decommitting from Nebraska. I thought he was going to be a real difference maker.

I agree Heesch is an excellent pitcher--the only reason that I didn't mention him was that I was zeroing on the 4 Freshmen pitchers and Mike is a Sophomore, who pitched 4 strong innings to get today's save.
