UIC won the Inaugural Chicago Cup by defeating Northwestern 3-0 and Loyola, who defeated DePaul 2-1, by a final score of 1-0. Despite a slow start with matches against Wisconsin and Marquette, UIC ended the Spring 3-0-1 and has allowed just 1 goal in their last four matches. It's Spring and much can and will change between now and next fall with incoming players and such, but still some promising signs for next season.

It's fitting that UIC won it...we've been the best team in Chicago over the past 5 years. Amazingly, only UIC announced playing in, and the results of, the first ever Chicago Cup. Of the other three schools, only Depaul mentioned that they were playing in it. It would be nice if the other schools advertised it a bit. It just shows that UIC takes its soccer more seriously.
Let's hope that our solid play carries over into the fall and that we can bring in a solid recruiting class to fill some holes and/or upgrade at some positions.
