Saw the Purdue game yesterday and WOW! were we awful!!! I know we are not an elite program but the baseball played by our team was awful..... This is not the first time these guys have played, come on. First inning against a top 20 team and we give up 4 runs on one hit, 5 walks and a HBP. All with a senior starter. Got yanked but not afte rgetting us behind, early!! Errors at third and short killed us, again. Another misplayed ball in left that should have been an error cost us dearly, as well. Now we cheer a put out on a groundball to short!! Should be routine not a celebration!! I don't know why we are as poor as we are... We get in trouble and keep us there. Good teams just don't make those mistakes and give up baserunners to walks and give the other team more than three outs an inning...which we seem to constantly do........ I know we peobably want to save any good pitching for the league contests but field play and baseball decisions shouldn't matter who the opponenet is....

It's really just a crummy time for UIC sports as a whole. In the past, we've always had good baseball, soccer, or softball when basketball was terrible.
Now even these programs have fallen. The only sport we seem to excel in is women's tennis, and even there, we're just the best HL team...we can't seem to compete with major competition and win an NCAA game. Gymnastics is solid too, but it's not even an HL sport.
Baseball and soccer have been real disappointing though...especially soccer, where UIC has had tourney success and could get there again....but they can't even get to the top of the HL anymore. How baseball lost it's stranglehold on the conference is beyond me...with our facilities and past success.

Shouldn't the AD be on the hot seat? Or does the administration view Athletics as a low priority item?

Not just the facilities but I believe compared to the other Horizon League teams, the baseball team gets an incredible amount of funding. I could be wrong but I thought compared to the rest of the league, nobody was even near us. If that's the case than we certainly aren't getting much quality for what we're spending.
