Of the 8 teams in the CWS, 2 are from cold climates--Stony Brook (NY) and Kent State (Ohio).
To get here, a team has to beat out 3 other teams to win their regional. They then have to beat another regional winner in a best of 3 series in the super-regional. In other words, it's not a fluke or a lucky break that got them here.
Just bringing this up to take some of the wind out of the sails of those who use the "cold climate" excuse as the reason why Northern schools don't have a chance in the post-season.
