What I'm trying to say is respect the other people who do not want to stand during the game. Find a place at the back of the statium so as not to get into someone's space. The racial thing is BS and the fan shoulnd't be there. As to my seating, I no longer sit in the student section, but did when I began following the team as a freshman in 1965. Tom Russo was coach then, incidently Tom also still attends the games.

I disagree. No one enforces students having to sit in section 109. Student sections are for standing. If someone doesn't want to, they can go and sit wherever else they want.
In fact, technically, students are only ENCOURAGED to sit in section 109.

The student sections are for students to go crazy. If you look the big teams' student sections, they are wild and crazy. AND THEY STAND. I mean I agree that standing can be annoying if you're sitting. But come on, this is a sporting event, not the movies. If we are talking about other sections other than the student, I think there can be a debate there (although I would love to see the whole stadium stand and scream). But this is the student section. We need to create something that would make it a FUN atmosphere that would make students come back.

Find a spot at the back of the stadium? You show me any school who puts there students who actually want to get into the game and cheer and stuff and put them in the last row so as not to offend some snotty ass student who just doesn't want to stand for two hours? None. The whole thinking of some of these kids needs to be changed. Get up and cheer! What's the big deal? If you don't want to, then I honestly don't care if they come anymore. Quality before quantity. And I am sorry, but I am really pissed about last night still. Racial comments..amazing. UIC s tudents yelling at UIC students? Great. Hey, I had a good time getting on #50 but someone says something like that and to a friend of mine...they're just lucky I didn't hear it myself. The game before that when someone else was yelling was bad enough. And this time someone coming out with that. Honestly, not really sure how to feel about it all together.
And did someone say beer? I am just wondering on what kind to get before the Loyola game on Thursday. Thoughts? ;D

UICJohn, you should be proud that you're starting something new within the fanbase at UIC. You're somewhat of a pioneer. Like I said, keep bringing people, keep standing, and keep cheering. It will be contagious. Sure, when there's only 10 people standing, this seems like more of a nuisance to those who are sitting...because you guys are just a few people ruining the view for everyone else. But what happens, when the 10 standing becomes 20, and the 20 becomes 50.....then people start realizing that you're not a nuisance, but you're a cheering force, and you're fun. I guarantee the intra-student bashing ends at this point, because the people sitting in the student section will realize they're not at an NBA game....they're at a college basketball game. Sure, respect those who want to sit down, but the goal is to force the sitters into sections where people sit....and that can only happen by bringing more people who want to get involved.

Guys:
What you need to to is get the animals from Commons South drunk and get them to the game.
They'll tear the place up. Literally. A case of beer would probably do it. Anybody who tells THEM to sit down and behave will probably be turned into a urinal,
For two cases, they might be willing to tear the stall doors out of the bathrooms. I hear they did a pretty good job on some at Commons South a couple of weeks back. Maybe you could persuade them throw them at the opposing team, just for effect.
For three you MIGHT get them to spray paint the opposing team's bus with UIC graffiti. Rumor is they spray painted "UIC" on some frat house doors in Champaign just last weekend, so they should be good at it.
I mean, do you REALLY want the UIC nut cases at the games?

Of course. Commons South is full of those nutty Freshman! That's what we need! Commons North is full of us older students and not many seem to be into the games

Or at least it was for the bigger games. Go sit there.
