UIC wins 73-66. Not a great first half but good. The second half we struggled again. We have to begin playing full games. The second half was ugly though. I followed it online and CSU was in the bonus 5 minutes into the second half! What was that all about? Ced Banks had a pretty solid game all around. The thing that kept CSU in the game was their three point shooting, which they hit 8 (of 22) compared to our one.

I just don't understand how we can go from playing a real good first half, shooting 51%, having good offensive flow, and playing good defense, to playing as poor as we did in the second half. It appears to be the story for the Flames all year...
However, the horrendous officiating had a lot to do with the crappy quality of play by both teams in the second half. Westley fouls out with 5 minutes left, we had like 3 or 4 guys with 4 fouls, and both teams were in the double bonus way early. And of course, most of these fouls were ticky-tack fouls, while other fouls (you know, the big, obvious offensive fouls) were not called.
But I'm glad to see we pulled off the win....I thought most of the team played pretty good except for Collum and Stefanov (especially defensively and inbounding).
Poole, Banks, Bowen, Bond, and White all played good games. Poole needs to work on catching and holding onto the ball though....I don't know how many times I heard Dave Wills say "Poole has it.....loses the handle...". The's guy's got a bad case of the butterfingers or something.
And how bout that free-throw shooting....18-21 for just under 90%...not bad at all.
Now let's work on getting that 2nd seed.

I thought we played a good game. The second half can be much better. Over all, it was good. Banks had a solid game. Bowens, Poole, Bond (good to see that kid getting some playing time), and White played well. The bad side was Collum and Stevenov. Stevenov wasn't aggressive enough. Collum, I don't know what to say. He got frustrated all night. We really need a point guard, and I think he is the best we have. We played great considering Williams was out for much of the game. I just wish we had played better in the second half. But it's a win. In regards to the Poole comment. Yes, I agree. I remember seeing him in other games throughout the season and telling myself, "he has got to learn to catch the ball" or "he's got to learn to hold on to the ball." Don't know why he keeps fumbling the ball.
