That is impressive! I mean, the stadium that we already have is impressive with an amazing location. But looking at those drawings of what it will look like is incredible! I mean, 1,200 chair back seats and the brick styling is gorgeous for a college stadium.
On top of that, cannot say enough about Curtis Granderson. I don't know the guy personally (just watched him at a few games my Freshman year) but what an incredible ambassador for MLB, Chicago, and UIC. This guy has already given back to UIC but also gives back with his time and money in charities. Definitely proud to share the title of "UIC Alum" with him.

Absolutely fantastic!!! I couldn't be prouder of what Curtis has accomplished: at UIC, professionally, and in giving back not only to our cummunity, but to communities in Detroit and New York, where he has played since leaving UIC.
The only way to top this off: Yankees trade him to the White Sox.

Curtis is truely a wonderful person to give back and remember where he came from. It is quite a unique characteristic among professional sports figures today. Certainly the exception rather than the rule.
I believe he also lives very close to campus and works our here frequently with the team during the off season. That should be an incentive and a great roll model for our younger players, too.

Nice feature story on ABC Sunday night news on channel 7 tonight, 2/10/13, on Curtis Granderson and his part in the new stadium. Nice to see some local, major network coverage of Curtis and UIC.

I don't really watch the news but I have had several friends comment that they've seen the story on various news channels. Great to see exposure about UIC.

On the eve of the grand opening, there is a nice almost half-page story in Sports Illustrated (April 14 issue, page 16). Just as the UICFlames.com story indicates, the $5 million is the largest one-time donation by an athlete to his alma mater.

Will be checking it out this weekend for sure.
