I was actually able to attend my first UIC soccer games in a few seasons. While the result was disappointing overall, there were some good things to take out of it. UCSB is ranked by all publications coming into the game and were coming off of a 3-1 win over Northwestern in Evanston on Friday.
There were definitely times we looked like a team playing our first game of the season (albeit we did have two preseason games). Guys didn't seem on the same page and passes were made to spots that players weren't running to.
Either way, I'd say it was a fairly promising start. We did have some scoring chances but just couldn't convert.
