UIC knocked off SIUE on the road last night 1-0. I watched the live stream (I still don't understand why UIC is not streaming their games when schools like SIUE and Detroit are).
Though we won last night, imo, and I really can't say I know all that much about the subtleties and nuances of soccer, but we were dominated by SIUE. SIUE probably had possession for about 80+ of the 90 minutes and had a number of very good opportunities to score. We scored at about 3 minutes in and didn't do anything after except pack it in. Pretty boring game if you were looking for any offense from UIC.
A result is a result, though, and in the end that's all that matters. We have a nice streak too...6 straight wins and 5 straight shutouts with a freshman GK. Nice turnaround after a losing the first two.

Agreed. I have been following them as well though I haven't been able to attend any or watch any since seeing them host UCSB.
Not allowing a goal in the last 5 games is definitely impressive no matter who they're playing. I don't know what happened with the DePaul game but the 1-0 loss against UCSB could have gone either. We definitely had some chances where that could easily have been a tie game and possibly a win for us against a ranked team but can't use if's and but's. We lost that game.
We handily beat a decent Western Michigan team, beat Lipscomb, Belmont, IPFW and SIUE which are teams that we should beat, and then beat a Gonzaga team that was ranked at the time.
Overall, 6-2 is pretty good but just still hard to accept a loss to DePaul.

In addition, I'm glad that we're on a hot streak going into this upcoming Tuesday's match up.
UIC hosts Michigan State
Their only loss on the season came to the Horizon League's very own Valparaiso. Since then, they've gone 3-0-1 with a tie to current #3 Creighton and wins over Bowling Green, NIU and Marquette.
Would be a nice win to continue this streak we are on. I believe they're really trying to build up this game on campus and having a student giveaway so hoping we have a nice home crowd there for support.
