Way to go guys.
I like the idea of starting off the season against a fellow Northern team (Marist) and a non-power conference Southern team (Lamar).
While it's nice to play the big guys, we do not need to start the year in a huge hole, like we have in the past. Last year we started 2-8. One year we began 0-12. All against the big boys.
We have Vanderbilt and Missouri coming up, so having a little buffer before facing them is nice.
It appears we will have a nice team. So far so good.
BTW, the 3 wins matches the 3 wins that the "marquee" program has against D1 teams--in 21 fewer games.

They lost the last one. Had the bases loaded in the top of the 10th inning. A fly ball was caught and then the throw out at home plate...double play! Lamar came back and won it in the bottom of the 10th. They finished weekend at 3-1. The game was on the Lamar website. The Flames have a good mix of veterans and freshmen. They have a good pitching staff and are working in some freshmen relievers. And I agree it was a good idea to not start off with the "power" schools. I think this team has a great chance to make a regional.
