UIC wins their season opener 3-2 in overtime. Fullerton was projected to be a last place team so a win should be expected. While 3-2 may seem a little close for call, positives include:
1) We won. We were up 2-0 and they forced OT bit we still ended up winning. Ties aren't the worst but we've had enough of those the past few years. Wins are still what makes winning teams (obviously)
2) They did get one of their 2 goals on a UIC own goal. Now, giving up an own goal isn't good but not something I'm worries will be making a habit of. And we came back from that, which is pretty demoralizing, to win the game.
3) We scored 3 goals. Even when we were enjoying national rankings, we still weren't anything of an offensive powerhouse. We had some scorers for sure, but we also had a nationally recognized goalie.
