Whoa. Saturday saw us score 44 runs while hitting 9 HRs.
They dropped their opener 8-5 (though also had 3 HRs).
Play their finale today at noon.
They started out last year in a fairly similar manner although this offensive output is greater. Additionally, they played Missisipi Valley State last year who ended at 7-36
This year we have started against Texas Southern, a team projected to win the SWAC.
Still have a game today and 3-1 looks a lot better than 2-2 regardless of the decisions we saw on Saturday.
And next week.....#3 Vanderbilt!

College baseball is weird like that. 22 runs in back to back games is nuts, but glad to see it was us doing it.

And currently up 13-1 in the 5th inning of the finale.
A good start I must say!

UIC wins 17-3 in their finale.
Great offensive start to the season.
Next weekend will be fun to track as they take on #3 Vanderbilt. They're coming off a 17-1 win that finished a sweet of San Diego, a top half team in the WCC.
Will be a nice test to see where we are early in the season.

So we take 3 of 4 in the series. I don't care where Texas Southern is projected to finish in their conference. Taking 3 of 4 from any "warm-weather" team on the road is quite an accomplishment, I think.
Here's the weird stat of the weekend: our only loss in the series was in the 1st game, started by Jake Dahlberg. He is not only our ace pitcher, but was named the pre-season Horizon League Pitcher of the Year. He gave up 8 runs in 6 innings, including 5 dingers. Go figure.
